Differences Between Ke55 And Ke70 Gearbox Internals

[KE30_KE35_KE55]

Hi Everyone I have 2 ke 55 5 speed gearboxs with stripped countershaft gears I would like to rebuild. I had a look in FAQ and it seems KE55 & KE70 5 speeds have the same gear ratios.

 

does anyone Know if a KE70 Countershaft is the same as KE55.?

 

Maybe someone has a parts book out there.

I believe the gearboxes are identical, but the placement of the shifter differs between KE70 and KE55

Hi,

Same ratio. Main difference is just the housings.

 

The KE55 box I have is all smooth on the out side. The KE70 5 speed has all the strengthening ribs and is noticeably heavier by a tad so preference use the KE70 box. Also I believe in the KE70 box a few shafts were slightly ticker I will have to double check that but that came from a good source that info.

 

So if both boxes are broken pull them apart and measure all the internals and see how you go.

Thanks Everyone the rear extension housing can be changed in like 5 minutes.

I wonder if I can just swap extention housings over so my shifter is in the same spot.?

Clean swap of rear housings. But while your in there replace bearings do seals make a short shifter etc just so it is a nice box for you.
