hey guys, what is this carcoal fuel vapour canister? i read it in the manual but i can't understand it, does this use any power? if i d/c it would it make it more powerful?

nope it aint gonna do shit. It just filters out the fuel vapor that comes out of the fuel tank vent. On my KE20 the vent is just plumbed into the front chassis rail...

don't block it up, you will get a vacume in the fuel tank and start causing problems. You can take the canister off and just put like a fuel filter there instead...that would ok

Taking it off isn't going to do anything as far as power goes. Blocking it may cause presurising problems with your fuel tank because the vapour has nowhere to go.

 

Easiest to just leave it there. Toyota put it there for a reason, it doesn't use any power, it isn't heavy, why take it out?

does any one on these forums know about suzuki alto cv joint boot covers? i have a alto has my paddock basher and i'm havin trouble with my cv joint boot covers, one spilt and lithuim grease is everywhere, i just used some duct tape would that be okay?

i temperaraly fixed my raditor top tank with gaffa tape, lol it fixes anyhting and everything

I plugged mine and drilled a hole in the fuel cap. Now it spills fuel when I take hard left handers.

Maybe it's got to do with the myth that "if it's got to do with emissions, it'll make the car slower.."?

I'm assuming the blue car should have one of these??

Rob: Most people don't put them back on when they do an engine conversion (I'm just weird). I'm guessing your fuel tank vent probably just vents to atmosphere or something, which would just mean that your car (where ever it's venting to) may smell a bit like fuel on a hot day, but no biggie.

whats wrong with having a charcoal canister?

Due to the fact my car went from rolling shell to "driveable" in the space of 48 hours, things are a little dodgy and ill thought out. One of these things is my fuel setup. Leaving out the fact my fuel pumps and surge tank setup is sitting in the boot held in with self tappers and cable ties. I accidentally hooked the fuel return up to the breather hose in the tank and left the standard return open. I only happened to realise this at 3 am at the servo filling up when $15 worth of ultimate pissed out onto the ground. SO instead of fixing it properly i plugged the open line and drilled a hole in the fuel cap.

 

Whatever works I say. I can put up with some brown stains down the side of my car sometimes. I'll eventually fix these issues up when I get some time off work.
