Automatic For 4age

Is there an auto tranny that will mate up to a RWD 4AGE?

It's for my daughter's KE55. All I can find is manual info for the engine swap.

Any others? I am also looking at a TA2 which has the auto box.

Is the pushrod TA2/TA12 ok?

i wouldnt know exactly, but id say that any auto box from a rwd 4age powered corolla would do the job. maybe in an AE82 or AE86?

You can use the AE71 A40 3 speed auto but you will need an 8 bolt flex plate from a late model 4age, I'm using a auto behind my 4agte but i can't remember what model my flex plate came from but here are the pics (POST 64):

EDIT: The reason i say late model 4age is that that is the generation that came with an auto.

There was a RWD 4 speed unit found behind some 4A engines but they were only available overseas.

Something that could work but haven't tested, is to use a 4speed A40D tranny from corona RT142 or celica RA60/65 combined with the bell housing off the A40 3speed unit.

I backup what Trev said, the one you want is off an ae71 auto, their easy to come by and probably worth penuts. From what I hear its actually a Trimatic with Toyotas own bellhousing.

use a 20v auto flexplate.

i bolted perfectly onto my ae92 4age (from 4afc p00 motor of death)

and works just fine :cool:
