shadow Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 Hey guys i bought a 91 sx hatch yesterday for a really good price, and everything is gun except the gearbox and clutch. From searching and reading i believe the gearbox is a C52 yes? Its pretty mushy and grinds a bit around 2nd and 3rd gear. What suggestions? Whats a gearbox rebuild or freshen up worth? Should i just buy a replacement and hope its in good nick? Ive got the spare money to spend a little on it, and i was going to have the flywheel lightened while the clutch is being replaced. Quote
Des Posted November 3, 2007 Report Posted November 3, 2007 don't know about the gearbox but i have all ways been told not to lighten standard flywheels. Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted November 3, 2007 Report Posted November 3, 2007 As AE70 said bout lightening the standard flywheel, that is unless u want pieces in the cabin with you if it explodes. yes the gearbox is a c52 try redline lightweight shockproof and see if that helps with the gearbox first. a good 2nd hand gearbox can always be found. rebuild is extremely costly.
