Palmy Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 (edited) hi all, i got this corolla from a friend bout 6 months ago and have only jus decided to fix it up and make it street legal. It's a 1979 KE55 Sedan, when i got it it had major rust issues and the paint was cracked and faded everywhere, the rear bumper was bent and all door seals are screwed so it has never really had a proper wash. the main rust was in the gaurds and is also the worst place to bog. i have completely stripped the car and sanded it back, 90% of rust work is fixed, as you can see most of the car is now in primer and now just waiting to find a good painter. the last places that needs bogging is in the gaurds as you can see in one of the pics taken from in the boot. (this rust is on both sides :lolcry: ) and have still got half of the bonnet left to sand. The engine has jus been fixed aswell, unfortunately no mods. The carby has been completely re-built, all new heater and radiator hoses, new head gasket, new water pump, tapped and buffed valves, new gaskets for the inlet and exhaust manifold and all new filters and spark plugs. I'm desperate to find a 2" exhaust for it as the current exhaust is buggered and chewin through the fuel. The interior is in ok condition, rear seat has a rip on top of it, front seats are ripped which is covered by those gay seat covers. Bought myself a chrome and woodgrain steering wheel and made a white gear boot which matches the white dash fascia (was bored one day). Thanks to JiP 01 the dash top looks near brand new, had a stereo in it but thats out. The only mods done are tinted tail lights, steering wheel, the white parts and the stereo. Here are some pics of it.... http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/ro...uy/TheStart.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/ro...y/MajorRust.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/ro...vedDoorLock.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/ro...uy/Interior.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/rollaguy/Rear.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/rollaguy/Front.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/rollaguy/Engine.jpg so anyway comment if u like. will post more pics up once it is painted and back together, hopefully shouldnt be too long! Clapped out Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Good luck with the car fella, can't wait to see the finished piece! I like seeing corolla's RESSURECTED (is that how its spelt?!!! lol! cheers phatke30! Quote
78_7kRolla Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 Nice work buddy. Try not to neglect the enginebay as that surface rust won't take too long to develop into something more. Got any ideas on colour? Matt. Quote
Palmy Posted December 9, 2007 Author Report Posted December 9, 2007 yeah well I'm currently looking at putting a new engine in so if i do i will pull out the old engine and fix up all the rust in the bay and paint it. well its actually jus going a high op white which is pretty boring but it will do for now. Palmy Posted January 2, 2008 Author Report Posted January 2, 2008 new indicators arrived today so i got stuck into it and made some new holes 4 it, i not goin 2 show the holes as they r kinda rough but the indicators sit in there nice and tight. they still have to be wired up etc. Old recess is still to be bogged and sanded. car is now completely primed and painting is slowly getting organised, jus tryin 2 find some good prices on a set of extractors, a 2 inch system and thinkin of puttin on a 3 inch dump pipe if i can find one. if anyone can tell me around what their exhaust cost that would b pretty handy as i don't really kno. i was thinkin around $300 all up. and what other things would i need 2 include so its not too loud with a 3 inch dump pipe?? The new iindicators: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/ro...uy/IMGP0752.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/ro...uy/IMGP0751.jpg Quote

Palmy Posted January 2, 2008 Author Report Posted January 2, 2008 do u have any other mufflers beside the last one? are your parts really good brands or not? cause i don't really want top of the range parts, jus somethin 2 give it more grunt Quote
Clapped out Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Just off the shelf, run of the mill, wildcat extractors, normal mild steel pipe, lukey muffler and tip, also you probably wont notice much more power (if any) by putting an exhaust on a standard k series engine, cheers phatke30! Quote
Palmy Posted January 3, 2008 Author Report Posted January 3, 2008 yeah righto then. power dosent really worry me at the moment, i jus want it 2 sound anythin but boring with out stabbing exhaust. Quote
Palmy Posted January 7, 2008 Author Report Posted January 7, 2008 hey got a question that has been botherin me 4 some time now. are the whitewalls on tyres painted on, is it a really strong sticker lol, i got no idea how they r made. what is it? they expensive? Quote
Clapped out Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 (edited) You can buy white wall tyres. There are company's around which groove the sidewall of your tyre and mould the white line into them, or you can buy those cheap imitation whitewalls which just sit on the sidewall of your tyre and are held in by the bead or you can just be a noob and just paint them on with export paint! lol! only joking, cheers phatke30! Palmy Posted January 8, 2008 Author Report Posted January 8, 2008 oh righto then, well i would most likely go the proper job lol. painting them would come up shit i rekon. if u kno r they expensive? Quote
Clapped out Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 to get the white walls done to your exsisting wheels, up here in qld, to get it done professionally will set you back around $150 for a set (4 tyres), cheers phatke30! Quote
