Des Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 haha. VN 3800's arent too bad i guess, dad's got a series 2 vn and that doesnt go to bad for a commonwhore, and he wants to put a motor like his into my ke38, haha, NO. Besides the tappet rattle and the occasional harmonic balancer konking out and making the car feel like it wants to die then their cheap and decent for what they are, a buick. Go for a 250 X-flow instead, slight more torque, alloy parts are easy to come by and easier to work on. But also longer. Quote
love ke70 Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 250 cross flow is the 4.1 straight 6 isnt it? unless you have an itchy to relocate firewalls, then its gonna be messy Quote
Kid-Ae Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 messy, but IF you can alter the engine mounts so it sits slightly more forward then its not too bad, just have to use a bit of care on it. i wanna see someone put a alloytec into a corolla and see how that goes, would be interesting seeing a 190kw engine pulling a car under 1000kgs around :hmm: :hmm:  Quote
love ke70 Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 there motors with a lot more than 190 KW pullin rollas around mate :hmm: Quote
Kid-Ae Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 i know but i want to see a unmodified engine-gearbox sitting in a corolla. Maybe even a 427, the new 7L monstrosity in the latest HSV prototype coupe 60. IF it was to fit in the engine bay and go, then it would be so good. though only to muck around with, can't beat a 1.3L hehehehehe GO TOYOTA!!! Oh yeah my dad also wants to put a 3800 into a ke55 THEN put a supercharger on it. he has no brains but some serious balls Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 I had an ecotec powered vs holden ute for 4 years. Gave it plenty of curry, never did anything to it except a clutch, 10000k services, fancy plugs, a powersteering pump and some suspension work. I bought it with 80,000kms on it and sold it with 150,000. Id say either is reliable, and the ecotec made good power. I just wouldn't put it in a small car as for me it destroys the advantage you have in a small car. Handling. Plenty of other v6s out there... Quote
