VHR32 Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 (edited) I have sandblasted heaps of calipers, no problems at all. They should use sand which has been used a few times already so it is worn and less abrasive :D These were done and painted up and are going on my car. I did them with the rubbers still on and put a M10x1 bolt in the bleed and inlet. After blasting, I fully strip them, clean, paint and reassemble. Edited March 27, 2008 by VHR32 Quote
love ke70 Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 baking soda. it explodes when it hits the surface and cannot be reused but it also dilutes and washes away Quote
tas_ae71 Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 you do not want to damaged where the seal is for the piston, under the rubber dust covers around the piston, it you do you may very well ruin the callipers, but if you do it as vhr32 has then you could probaly get away with it with.. Quote
SoulSearcher Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 what about soda blasting?? there's a place at lonsdale that do it, it's less abraisive than sand.... Quote

HRV-00S Posted April 2, 2008 Author Report Posted April 2, 2008 I found out today that we run glass beads in our shot blaster at work, I used it to clean up the strut brace that I'm making at work/Tafe. It was a pretty grubby bit of alloy checker plate (no before shots) but the blaster made short work of it :abuse: This is kind of a before and after, Wire wheel on the left, blaster on the right. and the rest, I think I'll do what VRH32 has done, plug the holes and leave the old seals on. I noticed one has a little tear anyway maybe 3mm long so I'll glue that up and go for it, Then put a kit through them. I like the raw aluminium look to, might leave them at that :owned: Quote
