Managed to get myself a weber 32dgav for the price of a six pack of beer. I have read through the faq and also the forums but still have some questions. I think it was felix that recommended this carby but i can't remember seeing much about it. I have an adapter plate and air filter (thrown in free!). My questions are as follows,

1. The carb has an auto choke, does this just require me plumbing into the heater lines? and would it be easier to convert it to a manual choke... thats what the car has at the moment

2. Is the secondary on this carb vacuum operated? and if so is that a problem?

3. Where can I get a linkage kit for it

If this is pretty much the same as fitting a 32/36 then i will go read the guide again

1, yes if you want the auto choke to work you're correct. If you can get it to idle cold without it then don't bother hooking water up to it. Some don't work these days anyway.

2, Not 100% on that carby, but most webers are mechanical. All you need to do is turn the throttle shaft to full throttle to find out!!! :y: If the secondaries don't open then its vacuum.

3, See if you can't modify the linkage off a stock corolla carby to fit the weber. :(

The 32DGV fits exactly as a 32/36 would.

Mine had the choke shaved off the top of the carb. Was no real problems starting the car even on freezing mornings, you just had to nurse the throttle for a few minutes. The missus could manage it easily.

Yep, mechanical secondaries.

Attached is a pic of the linkage setup I used.

Thanks for the replies. Only got the carb last night so I shall have a better look at it on the weekend. Should be fun getting it all going!

Finally got my act together and got the rebuild kit. It has come with the floats. Will these need to be set to a certain level? And if so where is it measured from? Also what sizes should the jets be for a 5k

Hmm well that does sound pretty straight forward. Thanks for the reply. Should be having a go at this next weekend. If its not too much of a pain I will take some pictures and depending on how my handy work turns out write a "how to" or "how not to" guide for rebuilding a weber. I figure for the price of the rebuild kit its worth having a crack at it so I atleast know how the thing works.
