Falken_KE30
Just installed TA22 struts into a KE55 today Few tips KE30/55 and KE70 steering arms do NOT fit the TA22 strut. T18 ones do, which are same as AE86 and obviously TA22. The "u" clamp thingy that holds the brake line in place is different, you need one with a wider gap as the TA22 line is thicker. KE55 Brake lines wont work, about an inch too short from strut to line. Once in the ride height is still same from the looks of it, though i havent driven mine yet so its prolly not settled in yet. still same stock + camber :jamie: So really its only good for bigger brakes. edit here a pic Edited April 20, 2009 by Falken_KE30
towe001
How different are the TA22 and the T-18 steering arms ? Same length or one shorter then the other ? How about the top hat or what ever its called (the part of the strut that bolts to the strut tower), did you use the KE55 ones or ?
Falken_KE30
I used the TA22 spring and top hat stuff.. didnt change anything, it just all bolted in. About the arms i don't know, at a close look it seems i have less lock, (then again i didnt really compare before and after) but i get my full lock pretty quick. And god damn, the rolla pulls up quick now :P

silverra23
has any one sucsesfuly completed the xt130 corona in to ke55 ??????I'm about to attempt it , can any one give me any advices on the ins and outs of it? cheers There seems to be about a hundred thread on this at the moment. Benefits of XT130 strut in a ke55 is bigger brakes and better strut insert options. Not extra camber. The XT130 LCA is the same lenght as the KE55 one. Details of my conversion to this in my KE35 race car are in my thread - link in signature below. However to summarise on things to think about. What spring and strut top combo are you using - Ones off your Corolla? If yes then you will need to get the Corolla bottom spring platform welded on to the XT130 strut housing. Or get a spring custom wound that fits the XT130 spring platform at the bottom and the Corolla top hat at the top. You could also convert them to coil-over and use an adjustable camber strut top - like the ones made by Cusco. The steering knuckle bolts on to the bottom of the strut and has a different spacing for a Corolla and a Corona. You will need the Corona ones, or Ae86 ones - the AE86 power steering ones apparently give a faster steering response. While you have it all apart it might be worth doing your steering tie-rods and ball-joints. They are cheap and better to do it while its all apart. There are lots of options for good brake pads with this conversion, as the Sumitomo caliper takes the same brake pad as a Datsun Z and Stanza and Mk II escorts, and a few other cars that are well used in motor sport. Oh yes last one. Most people I am aware of have had to go to 14 inch wheels to give appropriate clearance. You would want to check that before you started and make sure your wheels fit over the brakes, or you have new ones ready to go on. Falken_KE30
XT130 strut into a KE55 is NOT a bolt in job. spring is too big and will foul on the inside of strut. Do what silverra23 said with the coilovers or custom spring, or reweld a KE55 lower perch on and use the 55 spring

Do what silverra23 said with the coilovers or custom spring, or reweld a KE55 lower perch on and use the 55 spring awesum thanks ive already grinded off the xt130 spring cups and hoping to convert it to coil over money permiting, my big big main concern is :: how much of a differnce there is between the ke55 and xt130 hubs and overall size for fitting my wheels i all ready have 15 inch rims on the ke55 just woundering weather by changing to this set up that there will be big problems with the off set of the wheel s that I'm already using, realy can't afford to fork out a few gs for new wheels and tyres to suit the new suspenion ,ill try get sum pics for yoou guys as you s seem to know alot about it , but all in all it sounds like a massive improvment over the old ke55 solid mini disks! thaks for any advices
Falken_KE30
big improvement, but the offset is quiet a bit more on the XT130 hubs, id say atleast 2cm more, if not more the wheel will poke out.
