augo
Gday would a 4age fit better in a manual or auto ke10? Clutch box, tunnel etc?
irokin
At a guess Id say its a tight fit but you'll get it in (a manual that is). Looking at the photo below the motor seems to be slightly further forward than Ive seen in other cars (probably to give the bellhousing some more clearance). Redwarf
Felix will either confirm or deny this, but this is my understanding of it. Ke10 auto's have larger trans tunnels than manuals. As the Ke10 never came out with a t-series box, I don't believe it will slot into the hole without modification to the tunnel. Engine shouldn't be a problem, just standard stuff like new engine mounts, exhaust etc. KE20's and later all had larger trans tunnels as they were designed to have t-boxes in them. They also have better suspension set-ups. Hope this helps.... Edited January 30, 2005 by Redwarf

irokin
I would imagine so but I don't have a definet answer for that. Jamie? Felix?
Super Jamie
yes, ke10 and ke11 have the same engine bay rob's right, auto ke10s have larger trans tunnel than manual ones and you'll need to make a custom gearbox mount some way, ke20 onwards had chassis rail holes for mounting T gearboxes, 80mm back from the K gearbox holes, try and do that to give you a good engine position if you have the 4ag which has the distributor at the back (in rwd config) then you'll need to modify the firewall, move the engine forward, or change to a different distributor (such as the sideways one in the top picture)
irokin
beware. Modfying the firewall can get your car blacklisted.
irokin
I dare say so. Basically if you modify the firewall the police can suspect that the cars been rebirthed and blacklist your chassis number in all states of Australia never to be registered again....
