Ecu's

Featured Replies

Ok with a ke55 with 4age20v.

now if i want to turbo or any sorta forced induction i'll need aftermarket ecu!

so my question is what is needed?

Fuel only?

or something else?

can i use it in conjunction with the stock ecu to run ignition?

or will i need to buy a full enigne computer?

what brands are the decent ones models etc?

second hand ok?

is it possible to get the stock one remapped?

or an addon? ( my mate just installed a mines computer into his 300zx, gives it a more aggressive tune... kinda overrides the stocl ecu!)

cheers Luc

As always I say megasquirt if you happen to be handy with a soldering iron. Huge saving yet still get all the goodies.

Mines just make ROM chips.

Get a good quality full ecu the first time or you'll end up doing what I've done and try a box full before you find the aftermarket ECU for you.

My personal choice is Haltech.

Ive had bad experiences with Wolfs.

It'll all come down to the tune in the end so its worth having a look around at who prefers to tune what and take that into consideration.

Being RWD, its worthwhile going to a full aftermarket package so you don't need to hack your firewall. With that setup, you can do away with the dizzy cap and rotor button, and retain the dizzy base as a CAS for the ECU.

The stock ecu's can't be re-mapped but you could run it with an Emanage to adjust the fuel, its not the ideal solution though.

There's a few 20V's in the club on adaptronic ecu's. There's one on a microtech too. Call around your area and find a tuner you feel happy working with, they'll point you towards an ecu they're used to tuning and get you the best results.

Second hand is ok, aslong as the ecu is coming from a running car, in the past I've had to replace igniter transistors that were broken on an ebay bought ecu. If you go the microtech path, make sure its previously off a 4AGE, or you'll be up for a big fee to have the ecu modified to suit your application.

id recommend not going with a mircoleb they are mc arse... a lot better ecu's for the price

:bash: Most people will agree, I just didn't want to upset any resident members with business ties to the company :)
