Hi Guys,

Just wondering how many people running 4AGEs have come across the price of buying a new MAF sensor for their engines.

A friend of a friend works for Toyota, and the best price they do (even at best trade discount) is around $500!

I know the one in my missus car is rooted (AE92 SX seca) But I'm not a fan of leaving it disconnected as the fuel economy and not to mention performance goes out the window.

Ive got a AE93 with a 4AGE conversion in the backyard at home (quick fix up and sell car fro some$$) and it seems to idle and drive fine, unlike the problem car.

So how common are MAF sensor problems? is it worth getting one from the wreckers if i know it is the problem, or are they all pretty much shagged nowadays?

Cheers,

Chris

All 4AGEs sold in Aus were MAP sensored, not AFM (which is different to MAF by the way). You should double-check whether your engine is AFM (big box in the middle of the intake pipe) or MAP (little black box on the firewall connected by vacuum pipe to the intake manifold.
