kra55 Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Hey all I am fair car noob just started my new project KE70 to 4agte :D Couple of questions 1st one and I have already searched the forums for this :y: is there anything in the engine bay I need to keep for the 4agte or can I totally strip the 4k and dump everything in the bin - as I have found lots of posts telling me what parts I will need to buy but not what to keep.......guess is fairly stupid question but not as bad as the second :y: 2nd :) I'm going to remove the tail shaft and am wanting to make sure the handbrake still works with this off lol I know that the handbrake will work but I figure its better to be safe then having a car roll over me as I unbolt the last bolt lol ;) Thank you for your reply in advance :) Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Hand brake work on the rear drums, so removing the tailshaft won't make a difference. You'll really need to have it up on jack stands anyway. Some 4wd's have a drum brake for the hand brake between the transfer case and tailshaft. Is this what you were thinking of? as for stripping the engine bay, you might want to leave most of the stuff there until you have the motor fitted inplace. Then connect what you need to and remove what you don't need. Just saves having to re-fit something you un-neccessarly removed. :y: Quote
kra55 Posted September 15, 2008 Author Report Posted September 15, 2008 Thanks for the heads up :y: I guess as long as i only remove the enging/gearbox/tailshaft and otherwise leave the engine bay i should be sweet :) ill have to give the tailshaft another go when its not raining and i have even ground to jack the car on :y: Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Obviously leave brake master cylinder/booster/lines unless you plan on changing them, and anything else thats not engine related. Quote
