Depends what you want, boost or not I suppose.

1)CA18 turbo is a good motor and tough and will make plenty of ponies easily

2 and 3)I'd say both are comparable for price and availability of parts

4)Depends purely on how you build it, drive it and service it. Both are tough and robust

5)don't know a lot about 4AGE's but the CAs out there you'll get from a wrecker are probably on their original head gasket and are likely to start going. They also have a sump that is a pain in the ass to stop leaking once you pull them off if you don't do it properly.

6) NA 4AGE is 100kw, CA18det is ~135 I think. You can get cheap easy ponies out of the CA though.

The 4age install will likely be easier and cheaper, but its not going to perform as well as the CA Turbo.

If you wanna stay with the K motor, best bet would be 5K or 7K. 7K's are a bit hard to come by and cost a bit, but the 5K's are everywhere and cheap. They give a great deal more power than the stock 3K. I have 5K's going into almost all of my cars. My daily has one currently, you notice the difference right away when you hop from one to another.

As for life... Its a K engine, she'll be right for ages.

You really have to ask yourself a few questions first like

How much do you want to spend?

What do you want out of the car? Performance, Responsivness, Fuel economy or just balls out Horsepower

What skills do you have?

How knowledgable are you on engine conversions?

Are you going to do the work yourself?

Ask yourself all those questions an then you'll have a better idea of the way to go with your car
