hey guys

yes i have used search so don't flame.

 

anyway,

 

just wondering what sorts of carby options do i have for boost on a k motor.

talking to a mate said a weber would be no good as the float is brass and would just crush with boost

 

also said that a solex might be alright

 

anyway, discuss.

Edit: should probs add abit more details

it will be useing an sc12 supercharger on a blow through setup, running 4-5psi boost

ah fair enough,

 

with the weber i know you had a big box around the whole thing

 

is this necassary or could i do it with just a top hat?

also did u get the weber re-jetted,

also whats the price for 32/32 webers, because its sounding like a good option.

 

and yeah that fuel setup thread was real helpful.

not sure what solex but apparently they have plastic float bowls that wont crush as easily.

 

anyway, any other carbys worth considering?

The box wasn't nessecary, it was just the easy way out. Equal pressure on both sides of the carb, so I didn't have to really worry about sealing it up well. So yes you can just use a top hat, but re-kitting the carb would be a good idea.

 

The 32/32 DTMR-A I was using was one I stole off my brother Fiat 128 sport L, which also shares its engine with an X19 (little ferarri looking things), but I also believe these were on some Alfasuds and other euro cars of the time.

Jets were re-drilled with some dyno tuning, and the neddle and seats was swapped for a much bigger falcon weber one.

Thats all that was done to that carby, which FYI has twin brass floats.

cool cool,

ive never reconned a carby before but i imagine it can't be to hard.

 

for the amount of boost i am going to be running would it be necassary to swap the needle and seat and much work on the jets?

Bigger needle and seat is not nessecary, but advised. Bigger jets will drain the fuel bowls quicker, so being able to refill the bowls just as quick is a good idea. :D

 

Main jets were soldered and re-drilled a couple of times while on the dyno, so a little bit of mucking around but well worth it. Air correction jets also needed a little bit of attention.

 

IMHO the $260 I spent on this dyno tuning session was WELL worth it. :wink:

don't realy have a budget, don't have the all the money at the moment

id rather not put a price on it haha.

but yeah each small pay i get I'm putting a descen amount towards this,
