Calam05 Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 I have a ke55 sedan with square lights and a 1979 ke55 coupe with round light, i took everything off both and it was going well, i checked that the round from the 79 would fit the 80 and it did, sweet, then it came to the square onto the round and dammit needed the little supports from the 80. is the only way to do it to get the supports off the 80 and weld em in place on the coupe? Taz_Rx Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 The square head lights should have a bolt on extension bracket to bring the lights further forward. Swap these with the square lights and you should be set. :) Quote
JiP Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Its doable. But I think it sounds familiar... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...st&p=175616 lOl. What I did with mine is carefully snapped the welds off and pop riveted the brackets to the radiator support panel of the hardtop. Quote
Calam05 Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 sounds riveting.....bad joke couldnt resist. how did you line up the mounts? just by estimation? Quote
JiP Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 I look photos from the car they came off before I removed them, then I also used the grille with the headlights on them to line them up too. Quote
Calam05 Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 with your experience whats the best way to snap the welds off? thin screwdriver and wiggle?? Quote
JiP Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 :) Thats what I did. Just try to separate it slowly. If your too rough it will tear Quote
Calam05 Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 any other complications gonna arise? is it tricky to rivet? Quote
JiP Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Um... NO!!!! You drill a hole and pop rivet it into place, Most of the time while removing the brackets, the center will form a hole where the spot weld is. So all you have to do is drill a hole in the radiator support panel. Quote
Calam05 Posted October 31, 2008 Author Report Posted October 31, 2008 done! except, the first light i did is sort of off centre. the rivets don't hold it tight enough and the brackets droop down. it annoys me, ill probly have to try and rip the rivets out and do it again with bigger ones Quote
Redwarf Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 About $30 at your local tool provider will buy you a spot weld drill or a "zip cut" as they are sometimes called. Much cleaner and easier than breaking the spot weld. Quote
Calam05 Posted October 31, 2008 Author Report Posted October 31, 2008 dang. that woulda been useful. thanks redwarf Quote
