Super Jamie Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 Standard Features: TOTALLY WICKED GULLWING DOORS Quote
MissSydneyCruising Posted April 3, 2005 Author Report Posted April 3, 2005 yeah that too lol  Most common things that go wrong: Ashtray clips break - can buy these from UK Door handle surrounds crack due to age - Toyota Dealer Item Only Headlights dirty - Bake them in the oven minus the bulbs and all steel parts, pry them apart with a screwdriver once the silicon has melted, and clean away. Also you can fit a HID kit for $400AUD. Clips on doors break often due to pulling the door down all the time, these are at any hardware shop. Gas struts for doors sagging - new struts from toyota, second hand struts from some wreckers (sydney has 2 with a sera each, brisbane has none), or from Omicron in the UK. You also have balancers inside the door, these are extremely expensive to fix. Think thats about it. Oh and they run ONLY on shell optimax mMMMKKAY? None of this woolworths sh*t... :D Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 3, 2005 Report Posted April 3, 2005 ken streeter also does a really decent looking front spoiler and rear wing kit for these cars Quote
MissSydneyCruising Posted April 4, 2005 Author Report Posted April 4, 2005 *shrugs* I'm out of touch it seems. My bodykit will be custom from jetspeed. Quote
Northen Rolla Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 A girl in our club has one of these, very cool little cars. Been passenger in hers a few times whilst having a few rum beverages and if i hadn't baught my GP i woulda bought a sera. There's was one for sale in a car yard up here at the same time (4 years ago). Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 i'm jealous; WE never got these cars!!!!! did they come with the gullwing doors stock??!! Quote
ancullen Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 (edited) Got any kerb weight and/or acceleration figures? It's just I was driving the other half's Starlet on Sunday and it got me thinking about 5E-FE/5E-FHE engine swap, so I'm wondering if the Starlet would be lighter than a Sera or not. I know it's far lighter than the Paseo. Starlet - 834kg, 55kW Paseo - 924kg, 69/74kW (depends on version) Sera - ???kg 82kW Edited May 24, 2005 by ancullen Quote
ancullen Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 Would be the ideal, yes. But too much effort to get registered. I know that the E-series of motors has no chance for outright power against the A-series (the lack of a G-head option is a big letdown), but I think it could be plenty powerful enough. Of course, I have read of a guy putting a 3S-GTE into an EP82 Starlet. CRAZY!!! He had to get custom driveshafts made up as he kept destroying the stock ones. My plan would be for a standard Australian Starlet (EP95R) with a 5E-FHE engine (disguised as a 4E-FE), with some performance mods (high compression, exhaust, possibly cams, etc), using the Starlet transmission with Paseo final drive and Echo 4th & 5th gear ratios (Echo, Paseo, Starlet, and some/most FWD Corollas use the same transmission). It wouldn't be a quarter mile beast, but would be AWESOME for motorkhanas (specifically the Rejex Rally). Quote
Northen Rolla Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 The girl that owns it up here keeps saying she wants the 4AGZE in hers but she needs to stop spending on clothes (the girl thing) to do it. Quote
ancullen Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 The 4A engine swap seems like a fair bit of trouble to go to for only a moderate gain. I know that more power can be made all up with a 4A engine over any from the E-family, but surely a 5E-FTE (5E/3E-FTE hybrid) could make some serious enough power with a bigger turbo. Plenty enough for a FWD car anyway. Quote
