Could someone please tell me what the wheel offset on the toyota t-18 (te72) is?

id say around +30p, quite possible to be either +27p or +33p as was common at the time.

phone a tyre shop and ask nicely if they could look it up for you in their catalogue :)

Asking offset without giving a rim width is utterly pointless. In my opinion offset is possibly one of the worst measurements when it comes to rims. Backspacing would be more appropriate and make it easier to calculate what you need to know but apparently manufacturers disagree. Either way the measurements are pointless without a width.

but yeah irokin is definitely on the money there with width as you basically want to

retain the same backspace for internal clearance and as rim width increases the

offset will need to decrease to keep the same backspace which is probably more

important overall...

 

so what is it you want to know the offset for? getting new rims?

Yeah, I'm chasing up some new wheels,

16" black with a machined/polished lip

Your wheel specs should be printed on your rim if it's the standard wheel. On the inside barrel or on the outside lip area. Should be something like '13x4.5 +32' (standard KE70 wheels).

 

If you can't find it, measure it up yourself. Shouldn't be too hard if you understand how offsets and widths work..

dead center of the rim is 0, moving the face of the rim closer to the outside of the car is positive offset, moving the face of the rim towards the center of the car is negative offset

measurement is in mm

I have just been told i need to know it to know what rims will fit, also now i am being told that i can have offset of +10 up and -4 ish.

Would you be able to explain this?

Like irokin has mentioned earlier, a +10 to -4 offset wheel doesn't mean anything without a width. A wheel with those specs could fit, could not. For example a 15x7 +10 to -4 offset wheel will be fairly flush with standard guards rolled back, but a 15x12 +10 or -4.. it'll hang out heaps or won't fit at all.

 

Google 'offset wheels explaination' and you should be able to find something to help you understand wheel offsets.

Negative offset sorta means you'll get more dish and positive means less dish...

So if the offset is really positive the rims will sit "inside" your guards a lot and if the offset is

highly negative they'll sit further out of your guards.

 

Most 15x7 rims (between +10 and -4) should fit on a T-18 nicely. There isn't a SET offset that can only be used on

your car, if your stock rims are +30 offset doesn't mean you need to keep it that way. If you're purchasing rims probably

best to stay on the positive side of offset to save rolling or flaring your guards.
