Jason Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 There is no info on the net  i know its very bad to release it into the environment. Like freon etc. But i really really want this a/c from a certain silver ae71 rolla van  Which has an immaculate setup. So what do i do? Or could any one point me in the right direction? crazy_bunny Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 well u could get someone to degas it... cost a few bucks... most aircon places can do it for u, not sure if there is anyone mobile... or u can just undo it and pretend u didnt see it leak into the atmosphere... Quote
Rolla Boy Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 Get a rag and a screwdriver... Undo the cap off the low pressure line... Put the screwdriver into the valve and cover with the rag... Slowly depress the screwdriver and release all the gas... Don't breathe it in... Hint - The valve is the same setup as a tyre valve and I'm sure everyone knows how to deflate tyres lol... Do it that way, I have before with no issues at all... Quote
dysolve Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 it depends on what gas is in the a/c unit do you know what gas it is? venting to atmosphire can cost you $50k plus and any aircon guy can "reclaim" the gas for a small charge... also what are you going to regas it with?? if the seals are ok try and get some one to refill it with carbon dioxide..... to cut a long story short ... its cheap and really good refrigerant... dysolve Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 forgot to add... venting to atmosphire can KILL... alot of old refrigerant's are carsangenic... and can cause anafolatic shock... sorry my spelling is crap but i worked in the a/c industry for a few years and i heard of many a/c people in hospital who passed out and there heart stopped and they still got hit with fines... and not only that but 1kg of refrigerant can kill 10 tons of o-zone.... NO BODY should recommend or try to release gas to atmosphire for these reason's. Quote
Xany Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 i had no idea that A/C gas could be so lethal..... you learn something everyday. Quote
Super Jamie Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 yeah they're always party poopers though  Quote

Rolla Boy Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 forgot to add... venting to atmosphire can KILL... Thus why I say "Don't breathe it in..." Hehehe... Quote
