Jono.B Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 When removiung the camshaft on a 4k, am I able to pull the lifters out of the engine through the head or do I need to use a magnet to hold them up as I slide the cam out?? I am aware that I will need to take off the rocker gear and pull out the pushrods. Quote
tojo2 Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Yes, pull them upp and keep them in position order. Felixes camshaft replacement write up : http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...Series/Camshaft Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 (edited) As above. Depending on the casting inside the head you might have trouble with one or two. Hold your tongue the right way and they should come out. As Tojo said keep them in order if they're going back on the same cam. If your swapping cams they MUST be re-surfaced if you don't want to chew a lobe off the new cam. Last time I removed some with the head on I actually used a big easy-out - The tapered square ones, not the reverse thread type. Just tap it in slightly till it jams in and then lift out. Edited July 13, 2009 by Taz_Rx Quote
