RO-11-ER Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 hey guys just wondering if anybody has done this befor just need some information on coverting an ae92 corolla hatchback to all whell drive from the sr5 wagon Quote
Bowler Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 from the looks of some of the floorpan diagrams in the haynes manual i have, it'd take a) a fair bit of fabrication, b) a lot of dosh, and c) you'd have to revert back to a live rear axel, unless you stole the rear suspension from an MX5 or imprezza... irokin Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Whats a GT4 Celica rear subframe look like? Quote
Bowler Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I Have absolutely no idea. They did use that running gear in the rally prep corolla's of bates, didn't they? but that was in later models (ie, an e12?). But the wagon has a much flatter area aft of the rear seat line, to accommodate the live rear axle, and the leaf springs, compared to that of the sedans/hatch/seca Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 from the looks of some of the floorpan diagrams in the haynes manual i have, it'd take a) a fair bit of fabrication, b) a lot of dosh, and c) you'd have to revert back to a live rear axel, unless you stole the rear suspension from an MX5 or imprezza... you know there is 2 versions of an ae9X awd sedan that are of the same concept of the ae95r wagons. so if you were going to do the awd conversion i would be trying to use the floor pan off the sedan rather than the wagon. But as stated above you have a few negatives that bolwer has stated above :y: Quote
7shades Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 AWD sedans are quite common in the motherland... They use the same transfer case setup as our AE95's, but the rear end is completely different. (IRS) You could arrange for a chop yard in Japan provide a rear cut and freight it over... that part is relatively easy... then all you'd have to do is find someone who's a bit talented with a welder to cut n shut your shell :y: Big job...
