As appose to having my head machined as she is warped is there any head exchange places that anyone can recommend in Adelaide? Also if they didn't have a 5k head what's the process for fitting a 3k or a 4k head?

pretty sure a 3k head on a 5k drops the compression?

Not too sure sorry,

Yes, 3k or 4k head on a 5k will drop the CR because of the 5k's dished pistons. Great for forced induction, mines a d-dish 5k and 3kbp head at around 8:1 CR.

Unless its majorly warped, facing should only be around $50 tops. Last one I got faced was $44.

City Dismantlers probably do it and should have an immediate approval, "finance the purchase using your kidneys as collateral" loan arrangement to pay for it too.

It won't take that long for a good engine builder to do a K engine head. I dropped mine off on a saturday morning and it was ready by monday lunchtime.

Didnt end up being too bad actually. Just had it pressure tested and resurfaced as it wasn't so warped that it needed to be dismantled. City had an exchange head but they wanted $600! I could of had the whole thing stripped and build from the ground up for that.

Thats what i thought, it only ended up costing me $90 for pressure testing and resurfacing then another $50 for a good gasket kit. I'm happy for it to stay stock for a while and just bolt in a 16V later down the track.
