kermit55 Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 looking at suspension for my ae71 panelvan. i want to lower it so it sits in the guards and i wanna stiffen the arse end up. just wanna stop the slopyness. i don't have much experience with leaf springs so i just wanna know what some of my options are. cheers matt Quote
altezzaclub Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Add an extra leaf to stiffen it, and get them re-profiled to lower it. A spring company will tell you what they can do as far as flattening them goes. Quote

altezzaclub Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Lowering blocks will do it also, but they give the axle more leverage against the spring and cause it to wind up & axle tramp, so if you can get it low enough by re-profiling them do so. Let us know how you go- I know a couple of other guys are working on springs & axle tramp atm. Quote
DattoFrog Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Hey Matt, The extra leaf is one way to go. Lowering blocks are not my favourite. Find your self a good springmaker. They will be able to set your car up how you want it. There is a little more involved than just the extra leaf, you will need to consider what you want out of the car, in effect matching the car to the purpose, also what effect the modification will have on you and your cars components. You can go to stiff(a good thing if you are with your girl) and create more problems. I am a retired springmaker, if you want I may be able to locate someone in your area that you can talk too and get it right. My Email: [email protected] Cheers Peter. Quote
