jason12 Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Hey guys, ive managed to snap off a cylinder head bolt off in the block of my motor and figured the best way to get it out would be to try and weld a nut / bit of metal onto it and unscrew it. Problem is i don't own a welder. If anyone has one theyd be willing to lend / help me out itd be much appreciated. Can throw you some cash / slab / bottle of alcohol whatever u prefer really. I'm located in hawthorn. Cheers, Jason Quote
Sam_Q Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 it all depends on how you snapped it, was it from overtension? is the block out of the car? Quote
jason12 Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 Wasnt overtensioned and the motor is still in the car. Not to keen to use an easyout because it wasnt a clean break... Quote
Evan G Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 yea weld a nut on the bolt, ive seen my teacher at tafe remove broken exhaust manifold studs from a 253 with this method. Quote
jason12 Posted October 10, 2009 Author Report Posted October 10, 2009 Yeah ive gotten snapped bolts out of a turbo doing this before so think its the way to go. Anyone at all got a welder? Or is there places in melb i can go and hire one for the day? Quote
Sam_Q Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 if your preparared to drive to endeavour hills then i can help Quote
silverra23 Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 Other option is to drill a small hole, hammer a torx bit into it and undo it with that. There is a link to doing it this way: http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=50524 Quote

This means that torx trick very likely wont do. Quote
