I have just put the ke55 back together, the clutch pressure plate had broken internally and refused to let go of the driven plate. I have replaced the clutch, and while it was apart I had the flywheel lightened and rebalanced with the new clutch. I also did the rear main oil seal at the same time, so theoretically I should be happy for a while ;)

Now for those of you not familiar with my engine, it is a modified 4k, 10.7:1 static compression and a crow cams reground cam that I think was about 276 degrees duration... it has a regraphed electronic distributor, and everything internally in the engine is balanced. I have twin 1.5" HS4 SU carburettors, 4-2-1 extractors, and a thermofan on a three-row radiator. I previously had a stock cast iron flywheel installed which was around the 8kg mark or so.

I weighed the flywheel yesterday at approx 5.6kg. They machined all of that lip off the back of it, skimmed the rest of the back, brought the valley on the back a little bit further out, then got all carried away and scalloped the front of it so the material that the clutch doesn't actually need to bolt on to is no longer there. Pretty nice looking machine job too

I haven't driven the car yet, other than in and out of the shed, and I've noticed immediately that it revs much much much quicker! Kylie drove it home (it is her car after all) and she tells me that it accellerates HEAPS quicker, gets to 100km/hr in hardly any time at all.

Would I say that it was worth the money I spent to have it lightened - YES!!

I have some photos, but I haven't managed to get them onto the computer to upload yet, I will endeavor to do so later tonight or tomorrow :(

some lowlife scum (typical orange denizen i'm afraid) stole an "8" sticker off each side of the car probably saturday night while it was parked in the yard at work.... so I'm still in a bit of trouble...

But on the plus side I sold the subaru ;) so I don't have to worry about servicing it, tyres, rego, or that pesky ticking noise lol

Suspension and then *hopefully* a better quieter exhaust :( if she'll let me that is!

either some drunk bathurst v8 race bogan or someone who knew the car and saw it sitting there in the yard...

If it was a legit on work time job then I suppose insurance might cover it? but it was a foreign order (ie I'm fixing it on my own time at work) which makes it a bit of a pain...

damn stickers cost $80!!

I don't understand why people can't leave stuff alone... If I saw someone vandalising a car (even if it was not my own car) I'd .... thump them!!

No Rob's not in the doghouse lol!

But i am quite pissed about the stickers. I've decided I'm going to paint a white square on each back door and then stencil the numbers on before the next khanacross- they can't take them that way...

You are NOT touching the exhaust either ;)

Next on the cards are adjustable strut tops, different muffler, redo numbers and play around with the leaves to try and stop the horrible tramping

And sometime soon we'll hopefully be getting a less cancerous shell!
