ancullen Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Woo-hoo, I put an offer in on a house last night (Tuesday) and it was accpted! So within a month I'll have somewhere to keep Lola the Corolla (currently she's kept at a mate's place). This means I'll actually be able to spend quality time with her (read: me fixing her) whenever I want! And I have a second interview for a job with Coles tomorrow night. If I get that I'll be making over three times what I make now (crappy apprentice rates) so I should be able to actually pay the place off AND spend a bit of money on Lola (not a lot, but a bit anyway). Of course there's the wedding & honeymoon to pay for first... Quote
Tiger Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Hey that's good news dude! Well done! Just don't get too carried away with the idea.. TRUST me, it can come back and bite you on the ass at any given time. Quote
demuire Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Cool, welcome to the world of house ownership (or maybe that should be put as mortgage ownership) :P Quote
ancullen Posted June 16, 2005 Author Report Posted June 16, 2005 Bank owns my arse for the next 35 years! $220,000 house loan equals about $300,000 in interest repayments. Bugger. Oh well, it's worth it. Quote
demuire Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 ancullen: It's really nice not paying rent though. Bank owes my arse for the next 29.5 years. Woo hoo... Quote
ancullen Posted June 16, 2005 Author Report Posted June 16, 2005 I'm meant to be paying a minimum $250/week off the place, but as I just got a new job (about an hour and a half ago) I should be able to pay $500/week off, so instead of taking 35 years it should only be about 15 according to my Microsoft Excel spreadsheet calculations. demuire Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Wow, that's excellent! I'm struggling on $250/week. Maybe I need a new job too. Quote
ancullen Posted June 16, 2005 Author Report Posted June 16, 2005 Of course the other half will be contributing as well. My income will mostly be used for paying the place off and we'll use her's for living costs. Quote
demuire Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Ah of course, another half :P I don't have one of those... Quote
