ke71-rolla Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 Hey there guys, when removing the rear seal on a k-50 gearbox, what have people used to get the mother trucker out, i heard someone say once that a big fish hook would work, alas i don't have any of those :jamie: Any other common household items? Cheers, Steven Quote
tas_ae71 Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 what about a screw driver to get behind it and pry it out? you can buy a tool, its like a small screw driver except it has a 90 degree bend with a point at the end, that the best thing for seals usually. I'm guessing thats what its made for :jamie: Quote
Evan G Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 i used a seal puller, came straight out Quote

Felix Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 The metal cover thing that is attached to the rear of the extension housing can easily be tapped off. Gives you much easier access to remove the seal with just a screwdriver. Quote
ke71-rolla Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 sweet got it out using some weird hooky thingy i found in my toolbox, now ive replaced with a new seal, its almost entirely in place....but i can't get the seal the remainder of the way in. So far i have just placed the old seal over the top and tapped it with a mallet................now it doesnt seem to wanna go any further!!, what methods have u guys used to do this?? cheers, steve Quote
