Hey there guys, when removing the rear seal on a k-50 gearbox, what have people used to get the mother trucker out, i heard someone say once that a big fish hook would work, alas i don't have any of those :jamie:

Any other common household items?

Cheers, Steven

what about a screw driver to get behind it and pry it out?

you can buy a tool, its like a small screw driver except it has a 90 degree bend with a point at the end, that the best thing for seals usually. I'm guessing thats what its made for :jamie:

The metal cover thing that is attached to the rear of the extension housing can easily be tapped off. Gives you much easier access to remove the seal with just a screwdriver.

sweet got it out using some weird hooky thingy i found in my toolbox, now ive replaced with a new seal, its almost entirely in place....but i can't get the seal the remainder of the way in. So far i have just placed the old seal over the top and tapped it with a mallet................now it doesnt seem to wanna go any further!!, what methods have u guys used to do this??

cheers, steve
