polaegame Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Hey this is my first post on your awesome forum (that so far has been helpful) but I couldnt find anything on this particular problem. KE55 Sedan 1981 4-KC stock Is not acclerating properly?? I can go up 2 100kmh if I gingerly apply the least amount of throttle properly, but if I try and step on it it just craps out runs badly and sounds like a victa mower with a hole in the exhaust. I change fuel Filter, but was wondering if there something else I can check simply b4 ripping my carby apart? note, seems to idle a TINY bit higher when I twist the dizzy cap slightly clockwise, but it doesnt stay there. please enjoy gallery photos of my trip 2 byron in the newly registered rolla with brown vinyl interior got from a wreckers. Any help, comments appreciated. Quote

And just in case you have a little trouble, before you check the new timing setting after you adjust it, be sure to tighten the bolt up, otherwise you may get an inaccurate reading...... *edit* Also check your vacuum advance line isn't blocked or disconnected...... But I still think timing..... Happy tinkering..... Edited November 17, 2009 by Toy-Yoda Quote
silverra23 Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Great looking car. Sounds like you need to go over the basics. Timing and general tune. When did it last have spark plugs and points replaced? Should do the air filter while you are at it if its dirty and possibly give the carby a good does of carby clean. Quote
polaegame Posted November 18, 2009 Author Report Posted November 18, 2009 FIXED thanks for your help guys! Yep it was the dwell timing on the dizzy and the points, we also gapped the spark plug and shes now running like it was 1981! now to get the exhaust pipe welded (broke in half some how?) Quote
