styler Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 doesnt sound good, electric as in proximity sensing type? ie hall effect etc... Quote
Evan G Posted February 21, 2010 Author Report Posted February 21, 2010 not to sure on what sensor is uses, can the internals of the elctronic dissy be swapped over to a points dissy? Quote
philbey Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 Hmm sounds like there's shaft bushing at the top that is thrashed out. You can probably get it rebuilt fairly cheaply at an Auto Elec. It's a Hall effect type, you might be able to swap it over depending on which distributor you have, there's a bosch and a nippondenso one. I know that the mech one I've got won't work with my elec gear. My mech dizzy if off a 3K. Quote

Now what really is the point of that! :) You upgrade to an elec dizzy to get rid of the points. Oh and they're not a hall effects, they're a reluctor pick up. Quote
Evan G Posted February 22, 2010 Author Report Posted February 22, 2010 taz rx i mean i think i can swap all the electrical gear over to a doner points dissy, the lenght is the same the housing is the same. would anyone laugh if i told you i paid $100 for it? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Nah, that's the going rate...... for a good one though. Quote
philbey Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 yeh that's it, 100 bucks is a standard price. Quote
Evan G Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 ill keep a update how i go with the electric gear into a points dissy conversion Quote
