Got a ke30 that we are about to restore as it only has an original 80,000 clicks on the clock.

 

First order of business is the carby to remove the deadspots. Is it easier to re-build or replace with a recon unit?

No real reason to keep the original. We've had the car for nearly 8 years and have only just decided after it has spent the last 2 years parked in a shed to do something with it. I am relatively new to restorations etc so I am just feeling my way at the moment.

 

Are there any other modifications required to fit one of the ones you listed other than the adaptor plate? :thumbsup:

No there's no other required mods.

 

However there is some other supporting mods that will help you get the most of the weber, ie a more free flowing exhaust system.

 

If the car has sat for 2 years you might want to give her a bit of a recondition...... Mind you its a K motor so it would still start and run even if it sat for 20 years!!! :thumbsup:

It will be getting pulled to bits over the next little while and assessed. But yeah, I have considered a light reconditioning while we had her apart. It needs a few other bits and pieces like brakes, Auto trans flush etc. and a fair bit of surface rust has crept into the old girl, But i am up for the challenge!!! :thumbsup:

Not an option unfortunately. It is the wifes car mostly, and she is unable to drive a manual. :thumbsup:

Have you done a carby rebuild before? Cause mine had flat spots, so i decided to rebuild it. Went all good but for some reason now it just stutters when i put my foot down hard or it feels like the high speed jet is blocking the fuel only sometimes. I'd seek out a specialist to rebuild it, would only cost maybe a 100 with a tune and all that. To be honest with you, and this is just an opinion i wouldn't bother with upgrades with it being auto, just having an auto your losing power already. When i first got my car is was running dodgey, but after about 50 bucks i'll be able to drive it for ages.

Sorry, that was more aimed at jono. If you try and accelerate and it has flat spots then first thing I'd check would be the accelerator pump. If you take the filter off and look down the throat then you should see evidence of fuel being dumped into the carb when you turn throttle plates at a reasonable pace.
