Jesseb369 Posted June 15, 2010 Author Report Posted June 15, 2010 (edited) Oh noooo.... Rust in a 26 year old car in the tropics :P Those bits were bubbling slightly when I rubbed them back and resealed them... I didn't want to dig any further in case I found what you found :bash: Still got those interior parts here too... I'll come by this week or on the weekend for sure for those parts mate Hahaha i know :y: Its not bad considering it has lived in the tropics all its life . Ill get some pictures of the rust next time I go out there; Ae70 Edited June 15, 2010 by Jesseb369 Quote

Jesseb369 Posted June 19, 2010 Author Report Posted June 19, 2010 Took it for a roady two days ago. I only need new front brake lines and to fix up the rust in the passenger, rear wheel arch. Fitted my head unit in the cassette surround. I found sika flex to be awesome as, just need to wire it up. i don't know how though haha! filled all the little support tabs on the boot and bonnet and man! what a difference. The noise is gone and when you close the boot it sounds like a new cars one! Also I have been sanding back the surface rust and putting filler primer on and i sanded that back today so it only needs a clean then i can spray with some paint. All the other surface rust that was on it i just sanded it back and just sprayed over the top of it. I should have probably used kill rust stuff ??? but ehh! its not gonna look pretty yet anyways ;) Function over form ! gonna get rego soon when my bank fills up again and yeah. continue on my L's! Whilst towing my car past tobrooke pool i saw the mintest looking ae71! Same colour and everything. looked like it came off of a shelf in some secret storing facility at toyota! I look forward to seeing it again  I might buy it even! If 7shades doesnt get onto it first! Quote
7shades Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 Old bloke in Edge Hill owns that one, and he already has my number ;) Quote
Jesseb369 Posted June 19, 2010 Author Report Posted June 19, 2010 (edited) screwwwww you shades! I want it ;) Is it Manual??? How much would you offer that dude anyways? its pretty cleannnn. i was gonna say if you got it.. we could swap so you could use mine as a track car and i could have that for a street/ reppin it car  Edited June 19, 2010 by Jesseb369 Quote
7shades Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 He's in no rush to sell unfortunately... I'm thinking the only way I'd end up with it will be after he kicks the bucket and someone calls me after finding my business card in the centre console ;) Quote
Jesseb369 Posted June 19, 2010 Author Report Posted June 19, 2010 what a wank ;) That is a really nice car. Have you seen that blue van yet with the polished rims ? its a kesev. Quote
Jesseb369 Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 not much progress this weekend. Just some prep and paint on the surface rust. Any one know where I can get a cheap sandblaster? not the whole contraption with box and etc. Just the gun with maybe a canister underneath attached to an air compressor. I wanna use it in the wheel arch's to get the rust out and then weld the steel in there! Quote
Jesseb369 Posted June 22, 2010 Author Report Posted June 22, 2010 I found out that supercheap auto sells sand blasters and they are only $30 or so. So I am going to pick one of those up and some grit stuff to go with it and see how it goes :jamie: Quote
Jesseb369 Posted July 2, 2010 Author Report Posted July 2, 2010 I have a spare ae71 tailshaft here. Its a 22 tooth one. Is it from a manual or an auto. pretty keen to put new UV's in it and pop it into my car if it is a manual one Quote
Jesseb369 Posted July 3, 2010 Author Report Posted July 3, 2010 I got the rust done in the car today. Steel is in her now instead of bog. The welder was playing up so the metal isnt welded propperly and has gaps and shiz. so thats the best i can do. also changed over the brake lines in the front and rebled them. Solid pedal now! next up is RWC and then rego WHEN!, work comes in :hmm: Quote
Jesseb369 Posted July 12, 2010 Author Report Posted July 12, 2010 picked up some trusty sandpaper and fish oil and rust proof paint to make sure that rust aint comin back haha! Quote
