Teddy Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 (edited) Hey All Well, Still doing research, and ive got a few Questions, most likely only TRD brothers can answer, but I'm open to anyone Else's thinkings. Rally car was getting 3T (over a 2TG). Talking to Ben about it, He suggested, why not get the best of both worlds? - 2TG block, With 3T Internals ~ to give more displacement & the DOHC opposed to pushrod power. = 2T Hybrid. Now, I'm a bit confused with the process, but ill pickup from what i know so Far. As an example, Rob's Rally car has a 3K with a 4k Crank ~ More CC's, and i suppoze it could be called a 3k Hybrid ~ Using different parts from motor series to make that motor. As per cams, to what i know, you need to stick with.. -The motor that came out in that vehicle, anywhere in the world -Same amount of Valves in head on motor (eg. Ae71 Rally car with 4ac; can't put 4age head on, must stick with 4ac head - 8 valves) -Same amount of Cams (See example above) So, with that said, i really like the idea of a 2TG Hibrid. Now, for what i want to know. 1. Where and what excat 'ke70' model came out with the 2TG ? - was it the Te72 in America? - Answered :D 2. The 2TG Block apparently came out in 2 differnt models; an Early one (2TG), and a Later one (2TGEU). Does it matter which 2TG block i use in the rally car ? Its kind of like an early 4k in a ke55, and a late 4k in a Ke70. Small changes, but same motor.. as such... - Id want to use the 2TGEU bottom end; if i get to chooze. - Answered :D 3. Ive hunted though toymods *Takes off battle mask* - getting a straight, conistant answer off that god dam sight is harder than trying to get an interview with the Queen of England. When building a 2TG Hybrid, does a 2TG Hibrid consist of the 2TG Block, 2TG head with 3T crank, 3T Conrods and pistons? Some intresting Facts i found tho, Are they true tho ? -Early 2T-G uses same block as 2T. Late (2T-GEU) uses same block as the T18 13T. (Kinda true) -3T pistons must be used together with a 3T crank. -2T and 2T-G pistons must be used with a 2T crank. -3T crank WILL fit early 2T-G/2T block BUT the Block requires clearnacing internally. Late 2-TGEU blocks should not require clearancing -When using 3T crank in late block, the 3T pistons will need to be fly cut to avoid valves -Generally, when going from standard 2TG pistons to generic 3T pistons and crank, the compression will be increased a bit, from about 8.8:1 standard, to about 9.8:1 or thereabout depending on oversize -Wiseco sells 10.5:1 3T-C pistons off the shelf. They will clear the 2T-G valves just fine and with the 2T-G head they come out closer to 10.8:1 1941cc with 89mm bore. - you're using 2T-G head on your hybrid you should use a 2T-G block as supplimentary drive cam will suit your application -All the T series engine use the same size Rods. They vary in strength but are all the same length (Excluding the 1400cc T engine) The 3TGTEU and 2T, 2TGEU etc also all use the same basic block design. there are some minor differences but the deck height is the same on all of them. It is the Pin height in the piston itself that counters the increased stroke of the 3T crank, Hence the need for 3T style pistons and the inability to use 2TGEU pistons with a 3T crank Oh i hope some of that made sence.. TRD ke70 Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 so what was the question you were asking????? oh, use 3TG pistons. Quote
trd Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 this should answer the (can ya get a 3t ke70) yes Quote
