AXTX Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 Hey guys, I know this has been asked and answered before, buy I can't find it in search. anyways, makes KE70, with a 4k. Has a carby similar to a older 4k (less emissions or something the last owner told us) however when stopping sometimes, (randomly) it will stall at the lights, however performs good once you are driving around. a quick tap the accelerator keeps her going. what are the main reasons and whys to fix this? cheers Quote

AXTX Posted July 11, 2010 Author Report Posted July 11, 2010 okay, would it only happpen randomly? I noticed the revs are pretty low as well when it comes to a stop. Any more ideas? Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 Dirt in the idle jet, or an air leak that makes in too lean at idle. Quote
AXTX Posted July 11, 2010 Author Report Posted July 11, 2010 so those carby rebuild kits come with them? or do I needa full rebuild do you think? should carby cleaner get rid of the dirt? Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 Strip an clean everything would be best. It may not need a kit if its just a random bit of dirt that's got in there, but it means your fuel filter is suspect. ..or just pull out the idle jet, look for dirt in it and blow through it. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 I had the exact same problem, it was just my timing. Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 true- too retarded will drop the idle speed and stall it... Maybe a general tuneup AXTX. Quote
Evan G Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 did you try thrashing it around the block? Quote
AXTX Posted July 12, 2010 Author Report Posted July 12, 2010 (edited) No I haven't taken it for a thrash (this will clear up the carbon wont it?) so the timing out wont be anything serious? just move the dizzy? and whats the stock timing set at? If i take it apart and brake say a gasket, I wont know what carby it is to get a rebuild kit :( Ive been told to spray carby cleaner around the base of the carby, if the revs pick up then its a gasket leak? Edited July 12, 2010 by AXTX Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 whats the stock timing set at? Around 8deg before TDC. Set the pulley on 8deg, take off the dizzy cap, turn the key on and turn the dizzy until the points spark. if the revs pick up then its a gasket leak Yeah- Any aerosol liquid will do, and it will either slow the revs or speed them up depending on how flammable it is. But if it changes the revs then there is leak there somewhere. Quote
