jono1986 Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone knows anything about 2-stroke motors, or more precisely scooter motors. I have a Bolwell scooter and have fitted a 70cc big bore kit and an exhaust, the problem is that it goes really nice when it's first started but after about 5-10 mintues it just doesn't want to idle. Come to a stop, let it idle, and it just dies. I have to rev it to keep it going, but it idles heaps smooth just after starting. Can anyone help? Cheers in advance Jono Quote
Twinky Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 Too mutch oil getting in and building up over time? I'm no expert but it might be something to look at. Quote
jono1986 Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 Both are good idea's, cause i think it's auto choke, as in i never have to worry about it. Hmmm i could of set idle when it was cold, so when the auto chock turns off it just leans out. I'm not sure if it has an oil problem though cause it doesn't blow smoke and i don't have to fill it up to often, normally every 200km. Quote

Check the fuel filter, had this problem on a 50 where it would only run while choked and it was because the choking of the carby was sucking the fuel through, I replaced the filter and it is was all good. jono1986 Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 Will try that, it's the only thing that hasn't been replaced and the thing has done over 5000km's. Quote
jono1986 Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) where the crank seals changed? Hmmmm...is that between the cylinder and crank case? Or just a re-think is it the seals on the crank itself? I think what the problem could of been was that when i adjusted the idle last, the engine was cold. So as soon as the engine was warm the idle up thingo would of lowered the revs too much. Adjusted it the other day and was able to go through the city and stuff. Need to pull the carby apart again clean it out, clean the air filter aswell. A new problem is that sometimes it goes really good, from 0-70 no power breaks or anything, and other times when i re-apply power at about 15-20km/h it takes longer to get up, Maybe the reeds or dunno? Sam_Q Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 unless they are lousing aftermarket carbon reeds they are usually very reliable. I meant the seals on the crank next to the main bearings Quote
jono1986 Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Posted August 19, 2010 Nuh they haven't been changed, do you think that's something i should replace after 5000km? Quote
Sam_Q Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 well I wouldnt think so, and if they wern't interfered with when installing your big bore kit then no Quote
