Twincam16seca Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Hi all just wondering about these parts from white line, it may be a stupid question but are all of these parts interchangable into the AE71 even though they're listed for AE86? LittleRedSpirit Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Yes all of those things should fit. Are you getting the whole kit? HD front is not really required, usually just a source of understeer. Neither is rear unless you want to drift. AE86 front swaybars are slightly different, they make some for ke70 which will suit better afaik. AE86 front swaybar will fit but you will have to bash the stone tray. Quote
Twincam16seca Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 Thanks Nah I'm not getting the whole kit, what would you recomend for a good set up? I was thinking of doing hill climb with it as well as wanting good streetability, so i guess that means nothing too stiff? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) Swaybars aren't really needed unless you are looking to slide or tune the under/oversteer but there are quite a few ways to do that. New bushings everywhere so it all works as it should is the first thing. Obviously do not buy the ones that come with the whiteline bits you will end up buying. Then definately strut braces, and get some ultra racing under fender braces. The ae86 ones fit. Id also get an adjustable panhard rod, and adjustable upper trailing arms as that is all you need to turn the diff over, which is another way you can play with under/oversteer at the rear, and tune the traction under acceleration. Id also recommend a very good set of dampers. Id suggest doing it once and doing it right and making a setup based on xt130 corona struts, since they are smoother rolling on a bigger bearing and stub axle. They also have a bigger rotor and a twin piston calliper option on the wagons and import only models such as rt132, which is the lift back version. The other thing that will tweak and improve the dynamics is an lsd diff. The way is powers out of corners is totally different. Edited November 11, 2010 by LittleRedSpirit Quote
Twincam16seca Posted November 12, 2010 Author Report Posted November 12, 2010 I guess the rt132 has the same strut set up? or do i have to use the xt130 strut with the rt132 rotor and calliper? Would i need anything else if i swaped those parts over, such as steering arms or tie rod ends? this sounds dumb but the brake setup would fit into the 14inch corona mags obviously(same design as the csx) Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Yes I believe the rona brakes suit 14s. Yes the strut is the same, just the brakes are different on the 2 piston ones. Use the steering arms that come on the struts you buy. XT 130 is the same pattern as ae86 anyhow so you can do the aftermarket options or use ps arms to get more lock if need be. Quote

Thanks, i can get hold of all the rt132 front end stuff, but how do the brakes hold up with brake fade etc? and are slotted rotors available from rda? Also do the rt132 lift back diffs bolt straight into the ae71 with using original spring mounts etc? because i saw in some of the pics, i think you posted, you had a different diff with disc brakes Quote
