  1. If you like the ae9* series then maybe just look out for a good condition twincam version such as the gti or seca, they are seemingly just getting bought by a certain wrecker at the moment and parted out, seems a huge waste and only seems to happen because they get more money for the car than selling whole. Pisses me off no-end, especially when they part out rarer jdm Levin's like the gt-z and brz.
  2. Hi all, It's probably been a year or more since I've been on here but I always point newbies to the forum and tell them to read and google shit first before asking covered questions and topics on the Facebook pages. Anyway rant over, just wondering if anyone with a beams ae71/ke70/ae86 has run the Flo,s compact brake booster and also what is everyones opinion on their quick rack for street and the odd hilclimb and track day? Is the rack worth it or does it make it harder to drive on street, is it better? I know it's less turn lock to lock, but seeing as I'm going beams (now) I've got a power steering pump and thought ae86 p/s rack might be nice to have. Let me know your thoughts and experience 👍
  3. Do you normally drive a front wheel drive car? Mine felt like that but only a little bit when I bought my 71 after driving my ae82 for many years.
  4. If it's an ae71 it should already be rack and pinion, as far as I'm aware ke70's had steering box.
  5. Nice, I was thinking about this just the other day, thought it may have been finished! it gives me motivation, keep it up for my sake!
  6. Just curious as to why you would want to upgrade the callipers and not the disc as well? You would be better off finding an xt130 corona with the twin piston sumitomo callipers and do a complete strut, brake, and lower control arm swap. I did this on the cheap for my first upgrade, but needed to cut 1 coil out of the standard ae71 spring and used the corolla top hat. Here's before and after I rebuilt them with new slotted discs and calliper seal kit. The brake pedal felt a bit softer but it could lock the front quite easily. Upgrading just the callipers would probably cook the disc a lot quicker considering how small and thin they are to start with. That's my food for thought.
  7. Yeah well the plate should be riveted into the firewall not screwed in, so it has probably been removed for painting and or redone so it's readable and done wrong.
  8. Try this site, I just found another members colour for him by googling and the site came up. Worth a shot. http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/colour_codes_toyota_H-Z.php
  9. Thanks, nice be back on here and to be useful! All the crap that keeps being asked on fb corolla pages shits me as its all on here already! Things like "how do I put a 4age in my corolla?"
  10. It looks like silver to me, so i did a quick google search and found this site which has all the Toyota paint codes, i used it for my ae71 as it was a few different shades. The colour I found that matches the BH code is called silver cloud from 1979. http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/colour_codes_toyota_H-Z.php
  11. I'm a late comer to this one too and I have been on here for a number of years! I wanted to do a 1j vvti in my ae71 but don't want to cut anything. Looks like the 1G is a bit smaller, so I'm really keen to know how it goes!
  12. Sounds like a lot of power in it, will be good to follow
  13. I didn't even mention the gearbox from the aurion, I was referring to the actual v6 engine, but the trd hilux would be better as it's rwd to start with and they have a bigger bolt pattern for the bellhousing too. Needless to say I won't go down either of these paths, it was just an idea I put out there.
  14. Littleredspirit, mate no need to crack the shits, I do currently have a 4agze to convert to turbo with everything I need as I have read all the threads on here over many years so I know what's involved. It was purely an idea I had as I used to work for a ford dealership, and as for how? To quote from the forum, "anything is possible", some adapter plates etc would be a start. But that's clearly a pipe dream, I also thought this was a place to air ideas and discuss things...
  15. That's the whole point of this thread! Has anyone done it?
  16. I was thinking of an fg 6spd Trans behind the 1jz vvti engine, want to keep it toyota though, what about the trd aurion supercharged v6? Haha 😂
  17. Going by that table and kerb weight from Red book I can Haha, I have an ae71 csx so from what I found it would be 960x2.75=2640 I do believe that is more than 2500 (2492), but they round up for engine sizes on cam covers from actual calculated cc's of the engine. I am going to assume that redbook isn't correct and they put the wagon weight for the sedan, but I just checked and there is no weight listed for a ae71 wagon. I know "go talk to an engineer" it's just an idea I had. I did find another weight which was 855kg but I think that's a bit on the light side? Also is that table a national guideline or a state specific? because I'm in Adelaide.
  18. Hi all, My brain has been ticking over since I have had the body work and paint done on my Rolla and the guys at the work shop have said I should put a 1j in it to match up with the rest of the car. I have thought about it before as I really like the 1jzgte vvti motor, but the thought of the extra weight and placement of the engine puts me off as I don't want to cut anything! That aside, it would make 200+rwkw very easily and reliably more so than a 4agte, which is why I'm still entertaining the idea! What I thought was, if I went 1j I would probably go to/stay auto, but I'm not really a fan of 4 spd autos, so what about a ZF 6spd auto from a BF-FG Falcon? Has anyone thought of this before? Could be a very good conversion and combination! What are your thoughts?
  19. Yeah it's a thinker that's for sure, no I haven't got a comp map for the pe turbo, would be good to get hold of one. I need to get back into doing some calculations!
  20. I guess if alot of people do it, it doesn't necessarily mean it's correct! Yeah I have tried to get into it more, I followed a calculation video on YouTube and used a gtx3067r and ended up with needing to run like 2.1 bar to supposedly get 200+rwkw, that was taking into account drive line losses etc. I have been to mtq/sonic performance and had a chat to a guy there and he was saying I should get that kind of power with a gtx2860r, but the exhaust housings are limited size wise, where as the gtx3067r you are able to go as small as a .61 exhaust while still retaining a t3 flange. It would be great to figure out the "perfect" turbo for a 4age for power and response, so frustrating! Haha
  21. Yeah I know sr20 are 2L so why then do alot of people run the s15 t28 bb turbos? I know the stock exhaust housing size makes them a bit lagy on the 4age, but if you put on a smaller exhaust housing it makes it spool up quicker, no?
  22. Has anyone run a power enterprise pe1420 on their 4agte? It seems like it's good on the sr20's for about 220-240kw and really good spool, just wanted some opinions!
  23. They look alright, how's the rest of the car going?
  24. Here's some pics of my paint finished, it's a tweak on the original paint code. We took out the white which originally made it look milky. I couldn't be happier with the result of the paint work, it's genuinely ridiculous in my opinion! Also a couple of sets of wheels I picked over a couple of years and couldn't decided which ones to keep along with the steelies, so I now have 3 sets all up as it's not that easy to find cool wheels in 5x114.3 15x7 with correct offset. The wheels are 5 spoke enkei 15x7 and most likely -0 offset. They also need to be restored as a one has some bad rash and stress ding but all seem to be straight with no buckles. Also need a hub centric ringing cap made up to fill the gap, wanting that dip dish mirror look! ;-) The other set turned out to be an early set of performance alloys, I had no idea as there was no real markings on them. I went down to performance alloys when they were closing and the guy remembered making that style and was quite happy to see a set in good condition, I scored a full set of centre caps to suit, badges, full set of awesome quality shank nuts and washers with lock nuts for about $70 also bought a full set of nuts and lock nuts for the enkeis too! Wheels are a work in progress, not a necessity at the moment while I have the steelies wrapped in re002's.
  25. Um quite possibly... 😒 but that's not the point! it's going to be a keeper, plus all the antitheft things you could think of so those pricks who think they deserve it more than you can't take it! Oh and yes those csx wheels do look bigger because they are 14" corona csx wheels polished by previous owner!
