  1. Do we know how many active users there currently are? Just wondering, because if we did the cruise idea it may only be those that really use the site almost every day (like myself) that would turn up and pay for the event, then your left with the free loaders (not that I have donated or bought stickers anyway...) that post in the "for sale" areas and don't contribute much else except clogging up threads with random useless gibber in an otherwise serious and informing thread. I'm not trying to be the fun police or anything, but some people just talk crap... SO, rant over, IF we also had an annual fee of a small amount ($2~) for the hundreds of users either instead of or on top of the cruise, I would think that it would cover the cost of hosting, wouldn't it? With that said, there could also be the areas for long time members etc etc like this Just some of my thoughts anyway as I know you can't force people to pay/donate as that may see numbers dwindle...
  2. That might be an option for me, the body work looks really good, no filler and all metal from what I have seen, just the way I like it!
  3. Top stuff! I was thinking of going 1jzgte vvti chaser motor in my ae71 but of course its too big! and I don't have the skills, tools or space to do what you guys have done. next option for me is 3sge beams + turbo, which still requires modification but will have better weight balance, or the common 4agte=boring compared to this MACHINE! WOWSERS! Keep the updates coming! where abouts down south are you? I'm in Morphett vale, near lonsdale and keen for some nice body work to be done on my rolla, have rust free panel parts ready to be cut and welded in. cheers Jason
  4. Hi all, I have been researching turbos and found a bit on the wrx sti vf34/36 turbo on http://www.hachiroku.com.au/2009/02/ae86-tuning-guide-turbo-4a-g/ and was wondering if anyone has done it or had any experience or driven a 4agte with one on it? I'm very interested as it seems to be very quick spooling as the vf36 has a titanium twin scroll exhaust wheel and shaft with ball bearing assembly. It has a ridiculous exhaust flange though... custom manifold i guess! Also had a look at the garrett gtx3076r which my mate had bought for his ET turbo Pulsar, but once researched it seems like there would be nothing until 5-6k rpm? I'm aiming for 165-210rwkw, I have a late model AE92 big port 4agze, oil squirters, crank angle censor coil packs, Jdm RWD manifold etc I'm also thinking the smaller exhaust housing on it would be better than an s15 BB turbo as they have a .80ar rear or something..? Any thoughts on this are most welcome!
  5. yeah nah, not the answer I was after. I don't think that would pass for a street driven car even if it goes through an engineer, I was hoping to use a stock cross member modified like bill sherwood http://www.billzilla...crossmember.jpg. If the cross member is spaced it will obviously place the engine lower to the ground which is not a good thing seeing as it is a tall engine with a low sump to start with. so the the questions still stand! Is the auto trans tunnel larger than the manual tunnel in the AE71? if so, would I still have to modify the trans tunnel or the firewall for the J160? Also what is the distance between the end of the bell housing and the centre of the shifter on a J160?
  6. Hi all, I know this is an old thread (about a year old) but I was also thinking AND have been researching the beams into ke/ae as I have a n AE71 csx auto, now the question I have is... Is the auto trans tunnel larger than the manual tunnel in the AE71? if so, would I still have to modify the trans tunnel or the firewall for the J160? Also what is the distance between the end of the bell housing and the centre of the shifter? My original plan was turbs 4agze with the jdm manifold, possibly a w58, as I have a mean diff built with big as ford brakes front and rear, so I kind of need an enging to match! haha and thats why the Beams and 6 speed has been going round and round my head because its good power out the box and would be sweet with a turbo hanging off the side too (later on if I so desired). Any help would be great!
  7. so would you keep the runners the exact same ID as the exhaust port on the head, all the way to the collector/turbo flange? Makes sense to me what your saying, I know exactly what your on about with the velocity. It's the same with an N/A exhaust system, can't have it too big or you loose power, or in this case response/drive-ability. any more info will be great!
  8. Any particular style that would best suit fast spooling? I would guess the shorter the runners/primary the better, right?
  9. Hi all, SO as the title says, turbo manifolds! I have a 4agze big port from an ae92 levin and at the moment have a sc14 for the upgrade and was going to run a rdw manifold for my ae71 with bov style, BUT I am now considering turbo (probably easier) and was wondering what the best manifolds are to buy? Is there a big difference in cast iron, stainless steel, steam pipe etc for longevity and quality? I know kelway is good and local to S.A!
  10. Hi all, Just wondering what brands of adjustable cam gears are "safe" enough to buy from ebay as i'm looking for some for my 4agze. So basically wondering if the cheap as ones like these ones http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Adjustable-Toyota-Corolla-GTS-4AG-4AGE-85-91-Cam-Gear-Gears-Pulley-/271117640231?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f1fdee227&_uhb=1#ht_2935wt_1037 are just as good as the more expensive ones like these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TODA-RACING-Cam-Gear-Pulley-LEVIN-TRUENO-4AGE-16V-AE82-AE86-AE92-One-Pair-/321025211793?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4abe97fd91&_uhb=1#ht_2314wt_919 let me know what you all have!
  11. the left side has now started flashing fast again, so if anyone can help me before i start pulling everything apart to fix it, it would be appreciated! can't believe no one else has had this problem...
  12. mine did the same.thing, turnes out to be low coolant level, the idle hunts because the wax pellat doesnt heat up in the throttle body, i think it has been coveredon here before, so maybe search it up top
  13. Just an update both indicators were flashing too fast but now the left indicator has mysteriously fixed itself, so this morning i gave the right side a bit of a nudge and nothing happened, so i grabbed the wiring from the back and gave it a wiggle...still nothing, so I gave the loom a pull towards the indicator and it has decided to work, so still no idea what it is/was exactly but they work now!
  14. Hi all, My indicators are flashing at irregular speeds intermittently mainly when signaling left. Occasionally it does it when turning right, it will be flashing at a normal speed then speed up, i have noticed it changes only some times when turning right and other times it changes speed without turning the wheel. Just wondering if its my flasher unit or wiring gremlins? :hmm: When the hazard lights are on they both flash at the correct speed and the globes are fine as far as I'm aware, as i have replaced one already! thanks for the help!
  15. I have a custom diff being made for me, I sourced all the appropriate parts and gave it to Graham at boss engineering. I bought an EF/EL falcon disc brake lsd diff with 3.45:1 ratio, a blown ke70 diff, and an r31 center for the 3.89 ratio, all up it has cost me just under 2K. I figured doing it this way it was going to be about the same cost as a rebuilt T-series with lsd. Once finished it will have commodore center housing with the flacon lsd and r31 ratios, ke70 axle housing with falcon ends for the disc brakes, shortened and re-splined falcon axles and disc brake. The brakes also run internal drum handbrake. The brakes also match the front up grade i have from hopper stoppers, running falcon 5 stud all round. So it should be unbreakable, running a gze with sc14 and aftermarket ecu.
  16. i have an ae82 twincam seca & that sits about the same rpm, so the ratios maybe a bit different and the box may have been swaped over at sdome point as they bolt up.
  17. just wondering what size injectors would be good for a ze with a boosted sc14? I don't have any at all at the moment, also wondering if anyone knows the spray pattern the stock ones have and what would be good to get as a "cheap" upgrade. I have heard s4 rx7 550cc fit, but not sure about spray pattern and impedance? i will be running afternarket ecu an ems
  18. Hey Mick, Seeing as no one has posted a reply I thought I'd post this for you, seems simple enough but that's normally the case until you try making it! Looks like it would seal nicely up against the scoop with the rubber edging. http://forums.corvet...their-c3-2.html
  19. yeah thats what i was going to do, get them and have one made.
  20. As title says, can anyone help with these part numbers? I have the link for Hardy Spicer below. I need them for a 1 piece tail shaft and don't want to cut up my good ae71 t50 shaft. http://www.hardyspicer.com.au/PDF_Files/Driveline/B4_Mech_R_2009-6.pdf Any help is great!
  21. Really don't bother with the 4ac as it has been said before working a 4ac will cost a lot with about the same out come as a stock big port 4age. Purely based on ease of install, taking into account the cooling system and the distributor on a 20v, the 16v would be easier by far! not so much mucking around with re-locating the dizzy and re routing the cooling system on the back of the head. but if you change your mind about the 20v there is a kit available from these companies http://s-86.com/parts.html https://technotoytuning.com/toyota/20v4age/4ag-20v-water-line-kit-ae86-corolla Hope this helps a bit, there is heaps on here in the tech articles to help you make your mind up. Good luck with the conversion
  22. I'm not sure what a short exhaust system would have to do with burnt valves? but to keep the velocity high it wouldn't have to be too small a diameter, unlike a full system where it's possible to decrease the diameter from a 2 1/2 inch to 2 1/4 then a 2inch to keep the velocity of the cooling gas high. With a short system like you want to have I would go for a 2 1/2 inch collector into a 2 1/4 outlet behind the wheel. The short length and diameter of the pipe should keep the velocity at a reasonable speed due to the higher exhaust temp at that length of the system, where as a longer system, such a normal length, the exhaust temp is cooler when exiting the system thus requiring a smaller diameter to keep the exhaust gas velocity high!
  23. Take them back for a refund and get super pro, heaps better and don't wear as much as other brands of bushes.
  24. Found some videos on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8jEymcA9-M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv-WM_55i5Q
