  1. Hi all, Thought it was about time I started a build thread for my AE71 CSX. I'll give you a bit of a run down on what I know about it and since found out about it body wise and what my plans are and have been for about 5 years since I bought it! Before I bought it I always wanted an AE86 and pestered my friends brother to sell me his, to no avail, so I did some more research on older RWD corollas and found out that lots of AE86 parts are interchangeable into the AE71's. As the thought process continued... hmmm 4 doors isn't as cool but is more practical, it seemed like the better and cheaper option. So after hunting around for one for some time I came across this one on carsales, had a look, test drive, haggled a bit and ended up with the car and spare rust free panel parts thrown in! I drove it as it was for a while, swapping between my first car, an AE82 twincam seca, while I gradually collected parts after doing lots and LOTS of research. parts such as... AE86 BC coil overs Hopper stoppers brake upgrade for AE86 4agze for turbo conversion W57 celica gearbox Custom diff, consisting of parts used from a complete EF falcon disc to disc diff which used the lsd centre, disc brakes, shortened axles, ke70 axle housing for suspension mounts, commodore centre housing, pintara crown and pinion 3.89 ratio. All done by BOSS racing differentials at Lonsdale in Adelaide. 15 inch EF Ford steelies stripped and powder coated with chrome trims and centre caps Tenzo racing seats, super snug and ADR approved! DRiFT wheel THEN THE BODY WORK! Finally got started in December 2015 by a mate, who did some amazing work cutting out of rust and replacing with the rust free parts mentioned earlier and ended up with a ridiculously straight finish and an amazing paint job, which is a variation on the original paint code. More body work pics to come. I will hopefully keep this updated as soon as things progress and the build comes to an end and I can enter a few hill climbs and shows.
  2. Also try the liteace/hiace vans that came withheld 7-k motor, they run 4 stud chaser style wheels
  3. I'm not looking at the the gt3076. I'm looking at the gtx3067 with a .61 rear divided/twin scroll housing. So with the smaller housing I would have quicker spool. And when you say full boost, how do you know what psi I'm going to run? I could have full boost by 3500 if I ran low psi, but you know that's pointless! Haha I wanted to go external gate for ease of tune, that aside I guess it's a 400hp turbo vs 500hp turb...
  4. Hi all, For my 4agte build I'm aiming for 200kwatw (with scope for more) and want the quickest response and spool from my turbo, looking at the gtx3067r with the .61 t3 divided as that's the smallest I can go on the gtx30 frame, now the question I have is can I run a non divided manifold with the divided housing? Any advice on housing size and how they respond would be good to know. Only going non divided mamanifold for ease of external wastegate, would only have to run one rather than two and trying to plumb it all plus the cost!
  5. I don't know if he has done any work on V8's, but he is one hell of a rotor head! He's built a few 4age's before, got some decent power from a ze sc12 with a ems ecu and good tune, so looking forward to the turbo build. I would think that getting them shot would help somewhat? I have a question on turbo and manifolds too so I'll start a new thread for that.
  6. Thanks guys, all helps heaps. I'll get a build thread going one day, only had the car and been collecting parts for the past 5 years! Haha 😂
  7. Thanks Sam, I thought exactly what you said. My engine builder thinks it would be a good idea to have them, he suggested having them linished and shot peened as well. I have a set of rods and pistons from a ae101 (i believe) and my originals from the motor which I thought were the bigger set that I already had but apparently not! My mate took a picture of them next to one he had out of a stock 4age he rebuilt and they were slightly different again! Did they have slightly different rods depending where in Japan they were assembled? If they are indeed assembled in more than one plac? I'll try to get the picture Also it will be turbo, going for 200+rwkw, Sam I have a laser cut exhaust flange from you that I will be using for a steampipe manifold ☺
  8. So I am rebuilding a 4agze and I'm not sure what it came out of. From what I have read and researched it seems to be out of an early ae92. I have no ecu, loom or air flow/map sensor. It has a big port head, has the big port inlet manifold, I think lower comp pistons 8.0:1? and the super charger with the cross on the front. It may very well be a bit of a mix as I also thought, from the the case and supercharger it maybe a late ae92 but it has no oil squirters. So really wondering what model came with the bigport head and oilsquirters and the biggest conrods? I need some of the biggest stock rods and would like oil squirter, failing that, is it possible to get squirters machined into the block? Only want the facts, not my mate has this hear say mumbo jumbo!
  9. Hi all, Wasn't sure if this was the place to post thi. But I want to know where this front spoiler is from, or if it was for another car and modified to suit? I really like it as it's slightly different to all the others out there.
  10. Thanks guys, been very helpful, I currently have the standard auto job in at the moment with a thermofan and aiming for 200rwkw, but got plenty of time to sort it.
  11. Hi all, Just wondering if any one knows what size length and thread bolts are needed for a mounting a to bar on the seca's? I have had my bar off for a number of years and no longer have the bolts, when i removed it I noticed they were different so I may need to get the threads chased, but any info will be great! thanks Jason
  12. ok thanks guys, I might see how much it is to get the core cleaned out on the original one if its deemed serviceable!
  13. Hi all, Just wondering if the Ebay Alloy radiators are worth it as I'm going 4AG-TE in my AE71. I currently have the original 4ac and it was fitted with a thermo fan, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FULL-aluminum-alloy-radiator-toyota-Corolla-AE71-AE72-/261213476702?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cd189575e&_uhb=1 With the increase in power I am assuming I will need a better radiator. If there is anything good/bad to know about them it would be nice to know!
  14. I think the ke70 has a supercharged 1uz in it? saw it on a FB page, not completely sure though
  15. had no idea they did an "S" pack with a v8... learn something new every day...
  16. so while we're on this, if I use an AE82 4age A/C bracket and pump would that hit the sway bar? And has anyone used a 4ac A/C bracket and pump with a different pulley? just because I have one already and would use it if I could as its still nice and cold, any helpful info is appreciated!
  17. It's going into an ae71... so no need for p/s :( anyway I would like to run ac still as it already has everything in the car, so I'm guessing it would be easier to use ae82 4age stuff? i'll be using the fwd water pump so I would think it would be easy enough to use/bolt on.
  18. Ah yes 4ac might be the go, but I would still like to keep the ac as well so if it can fit like in the pic that would be perfect, but yeah I like what your coming up with!
  19. with the mr2 ZE motor the alternator sits up higher then i guess? Maybe I should just source a ae82 big port set up, I think that might be easier than trying to make a ae92 low mount alternator fit/clear the sway bar? any info on this would be great as I'm looking at buying some stuff from littleredspirit that is low mount from said ae92. If anyone can tell me if it clears the sway bar that would be great!
  20. Help me out here! I can't seem to find my answer... Does the alternator, bracket and swing arm from a 4afe bolt onto a 4agze? I don't have a bracket on my ZE and am doing a rwd turbo conversion. I was thinking about buying a ZE alt and A/C bracket but apparently the alternator hits the sway bar on the AE71/86. Any help is appreciated or a link to the page would be good! Thanks
  21. Gassless mig welder, cos mig is easier but gas is expensive... go figure. I know it can be done with arc, but it save chasing holes if your new to it!
  22. More RPM would come from a bigger cam, not too sure on this but wouldn't a 5K or 4K have a shorter stroke, or is it bore size opposed to stroke length with K series? I also would have thought shortening the stroke would effectively reduce the capacity of the engine making it more like a very low compression 5K. The point of having a 7K would be for the higher capacity and EFI, so a turbo may be easier but not cheaper and but a supercharger will be instant, eitherway would require ecu tuning for max benefti. For lower compression I would get a thicker head gasket maybe, or dished pistons would help a lot i would think.
  23. Nice work! May I ask what's with the diff cover brace, what happens if its not there?
  24. love it love it love it! I almost bought a white ke70 wagon a few years back, it was overrated like your panel van, ended up with a ae71 sedan though, was going to be easier for the swap I want to do/am very very slowly doing...always wondered what happened to that wagon... Keep the updates coming and don't sell it, some douche will buy it a treat it like there's a million others out there waiting to be drifted with stockies and a welded diff. Plus you will regret it for a VERY VERY LONG TIME!
