  1. Does anyone know if there is a bell housing to fit 4A engine to celica steel case 5 speed? as it has different bolt holes on the mounting face
  2. cheers guys I'm using the corolla spring with a coil cut out to get the right height, the corolla strut top, corona LCA, disc and twin pot caliper, and the steering arm that bolts to the bottom of the shock. not sure if its the power steer arm as i haven't measured it. I had it wheel aligned today and i have -1deg camber! drives better, the extra info about the arms would be good! thanks! I'm in Adelaide though 'ella'
  3. can some one please help me!? I just removed my stock ae71 strut and control arm set up and replacing it with the xt130 LCA's, struts and brake set up, but am unsure if i needed adjustable camber tops, or if i could use the ae71 or xt130's? is that a noob question or what?? I have trial fitted the ae71 tops and it fouls the top of the corona spring retainer (as i was going to use corona springs with 1 coil cut out) and from what i can tell that wouldn't allow the strut to pivot when turning?...am i correct? so any info ASAP would be great!
  4. Hi everyone, Just wondering what W5* series gearbox suits the ae71 best and what would it be from, as not to put the speedo out? I know it would also depend on the diff ratio, i was planning on using a corona disc brake diff, i think the ratio is 3.86:1 or something close it. SO i guess the question is what gearbox goes with what diff ratio the best? Any help is appreciated!
  5. Thanks guys, yeah i realised that not all are ball bearing turbo's after reading the info on the garrett site.
  6. Hi every one I have been looking at turbo's for the 4agze motor and am a bit stumped on what to go for, e.g the garretts from SR20DET's or a bit smaller as its only a 1.6L? Turbochargers > GT25 Family > GT2554R - 471171- 3 Turbochargers > GT25 Family > GT2560R - 466541- 4 Turbochargers > GT28 Family > GT2854R - 471171- 9 Turbochargers > GT28 Family > GT2860RS - 739548 - 1 If anyone can tell me what they would behave, as in taking longer to spool etc would be helpfull as to which i would go for. I'm also not clear on what the A/R size means? I'm not planning on huge power, say nothing over 200kw, so i was thinking GT2854R - 471171- 9 or the GT2554R - 471171- 3. I'm not sure if the GT2854R would take longer to spool than the GT2554R? Any help will be great and let me know what anyone else/you are running.
  7. Just wondering if i can use ae86 shock inserts in the xt130 set up i am tidying up, as i don't know what the insert diameter is? e.g Tokico or some others that may be better if any one has suggestions? At the moment i have some oil filled inserts in there that i haven't pulled out yet, but both seem to be in good condition, i want my car to be legal height so I'm not sure if short strokers would be required? the car is planned for a weekender and hill climbs... advice or a point in the right direction would be great! cheers guys
  8. Ford, meh i use to work for a dealer, I think i stands for Fixed Or Repaired Daily! they're no too bad though, if you do go down that path try finding a fairmont wagon with V8 they are very nice!
  9. Thaks guys, for usefull info. Thats along the lines of what i was thinking GJM85. SO i guess I'l have to Talk To An Engineer. :blinks:
  10. Thanks for that, so does anyone think the corona set up would be sufficient enough for a Beams 3sge, because they did come from a car with a 2L+ displacement, i know they had way less power though!
  11. Does anyone in S.A know of the legallity on putting a beams 3sge into a ae71? I have decided to "upgrade" to the corona xt130/rt132 fornt suspension with the twin piston setup, slotted rotors+ebc green stuff and corona disc brake diff, not sure if this would suffice though? I want to do a conversion and I'm up against 4agze-no loom or ecu + all the gearbox etc is needed, or a beams 3sge with loom 6 speed but no ecu? I would rather go the beams as its NA/simpler! but its a larger capacity engine so was wondering on what i'd have to do to make it legal? This is the kind of set up i would like to end up with If anyone has a link to a site or something it would be appreciated. Thanks guys
  12. I just checked out kangaroosa's box set up and was wondering if the ke30/55 pedal box is the same as the ke70?
  13. I've had my doubts too, but the long answer would be good!
  14. Hi all, i just had a quick search, and was wondering if anyone has converted the ke70 cable pedal box to a hydraulic set up? I have been looking into it with a mechanic mate of mine and he thinks it can very easily be done, as i refuse to pay $300 for hydro box :no2:. I don't see why it wouldn't either, as it would just be locating a tab of plate metal in the correct position and welding it onto the side of the pedal arm. Let me know if anyone has done it and if it worked or not! cheers
  15. Has anyone converted the dizy on a BT/ST 20V to the front of the motor before? like this one...in the attachment if its easy, would it be a better option than running CAS and coil packs, for those on a budget? found this on http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/11/03/car-spotlight-gt-gt-20v-ke70-corolla.aspx
  16. thanks guys, il have to check those little bits out, i m guessing its fron an ae92, hopefully a later model because they have the oil squirters for piston cooling, correct?
  17. Hi all, I am looking at buying a 4agze off a mate, but I'm not sure how or if i can I.D the motor as far as knowing what car it came from e.g mr2 ae92 ae101? I know the later models had MAP sensor and earlier had AFM, it doesnt have the airbox, loom or ECU with it. If its MAP sensor where is it located on the manifold? I also know that it runs CAS not dizzy, so its either been converted or its a "later" version... thanks for the help
  18. Does anyone know if the rt132 corona LCA's are the same as the xt130's corona? Thanks for the help
  19. Personally i wouldn't go any bigger than 2.5-2 1/4 inch as the exhaust gas looses its speed and becomes more turbulant the further down the system it gets. The gasses only cool as they exit from the motor into the headers right? yes! so the system can actually step down in size from a 2.5 inch collector at the end of the headers into the cat then from the cat down to say 2 1/4 inch then to even 2 inch straight through muffler at the end if you like. As the exhaust gasses cool they compress slightly thus not requiring a large pipe, this is where the smaller diameter pipe helps as it keeps the exhaust gas "air speed" high causing a scavaging effect and drawing out the gasses in the system. I have not yet tried this but i learnt it from a close friend of mine who had old school KE11 sprinter with a 3or4k race motor and other rollas (V8 eater he tells me), he was a mechanic by trade now works for Bosch. I have a 2 inch stainless mandrel bent straight through system from cat back on my ae82 twincam seca with genuine RS*R headers from a jap motor and a 3A racing pod, it droned like a b?*ch at a 80-100ks so i had the crappy stainless autobarn 2.5 inch muffler (not a cannon, hate them) cut up, repacked and narrowed by a friend and its heaps better! That my thoughts
  20. Hi all, i have been looking at doing 4 wheel disc brake conversion on my ae71. I was thinking of using rt132 corona front end basically unbolting the LCA (lower controll arm) and the top of the strut form the tower and slotting it in the ae71 for the fronts, and using a rt142 corona diff with disc brake for the rear. I know i have to get the mounts on the diff modded, is there anything i have to do to the front end? such as strut camber tops and master cylinder? Also the rt142 diff is slightly wider 1420cm i think, but i don't think this will matter as I'm using the corona 14's, so using the rt132 LCA would that make the track up front wider? If it does, it wouldn't look so noticable I assume i can get slotted rotors from RDA for both front and rear but my main concern is, would this set up be sufficient for a 20v conversion, power compared to braking ability? i have been thinking about the pro's & con's for a while and can't make my mind up? Also what shocks are available for the rt132 corona's as i want to lower it, but don't want it too stiff as i won't be sliding it! believe it or not... So I do this or buy a set of BC coilovers for a AE86 then go with slotted vented rotors with series 4/5 rx7 4 pot callipers with the aid of AJPS mountings... I DO have a lower budget though thanks for the help sorry its so long :blinks:
  21. Thanks, i can get hold of all the rt132 front end stuff, but how do the brakes hold up with brake fade etc? and are slotted rotors available from rda? Also do the rt132 lift back diffs bolt straight into the ae71 with using original spring mounts etc? because i saw in some of the pics, i think you posted, you had a different diff with disc brakes
  22. I guess the rt132 has the same strut set up? or do i have to use the xt130 strut with the rt132 rotor and calliper? Would i need anything else if i swaped those parts over, such as steering arms or tie rod ends? this sounds dumb but the brake setup would fit into the 14inch corona mags obviously(same design as the csx)
  23. Thanks Nah I'm not getting the whole kit, what would you recomend for a good set up? I was thinking of doing hill climb with it as well as wanting good streetability, so i guess that means nothing too stiff?
  24. Hi all just wondering about these parts from white line, it may be a stupid question but are all of these parts interchangable into the AE71 even though they're listed for AE86? I know some parts are, just wanted confirmation! Toyota Corolla AE86 5/83-5/87 Sprinter Levin F Brace-strut tower alloy adj. KSB519 1 S R Quick Release clamp kit available for this brace.
