SLW42 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Hell ladies and gents I am just curious as to how one would go about deleting emission gear on a 4k ex manifold, please don't say "buy extractors" as I cannot afford extractors and would love them but can't afford them sooo... I would appreciate knowing how to block the pipe that goes from exhaust mani up into the vacuum controled 'switch' I guess you could call it and still retain the stock ex mani??? anyhelp is appreciated greatly Quote
ke70dave Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 my guess is that it is, hardly worth the effort mate. doubt you will notice any difference. just save up for some extractors. easiest way to clean up the 4k engine bay, is to get a 3k carby and put the 4k jets in it. 3k carby has hardly any pipes on it, just for the vac advance and the carbon canister. i did this to my original 4k as i got fed up with trying to understand the stupid emissions system on the 4k, and it never ran quite right as i think i had some pipes in the wrong spot. not hard when there is about 55 pipes in the 4k carby. Taz_Rx Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 When I used ke70 manifolds for J-pipes I'd just cut it off the ex manifold and weld it up. As for the inlet end, from memory they use a big banjo bolt. You might be able to just replace this with a normal bolt. Quote

Carbon canister ? that must be later than mine. I just have a fuel line, vac advance and throttle cable. Quote
ke70dave Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 ah k, i don't recall exactly. i had the carbon canister hooked up to something though. i pulled it off a ke30 wagon at the wreckers (ke36?) but it looked a bit retro-fit on the wagon, so i guess can't guarantee it was originally from it. Des Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 mine are ke11 and early ke20, Ke30 may have it factory being later and different model. Quote
SLW42 Posted December 7, 2010 Author Report Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) yeah i have a 5k in my car now and it has minimal vacuum lines, i just need to use a ke70 ex mani so i can run my proper exhaust, instead of the one off my old wagon, and the reason i was asking if you can delete it or atleast block it is cause i don't want a million vac lines everywhere and it keeps things simple Edited December 7, 2010 by SLW42 Quote
