would have thought it fairly easy to sort out, from my memory,2 wires go to the light on the shifter, just check your old shifter see what color they are then just tape them up,don't join them together or you'll blow a fuse. The rest, one would be power from your ignition to the saftey switches and one from these switches to the starter soleniod, you just need to find these two and join them together.

Maybe, with the ignition held in the start position, find the live wire and just touch it to the other wires until you find the one that kicks the starter over, those are the ones you need to join, anyway, food for thought, good luck.

When you got your conversion gear did you get the "manual" wiring loom? The auto one is not really beneficial because if this reason. The manual loom plugs into the black loom on top of the firewall and bends down and one loom of wires travels along the block (near oil filter) and is for oil pressure and temp gauge and starter motor. The second loom continues down the firewall and connects to the small plugs on the gearbox for the reverse switch etc.

My mate who helped me do my ae71 conversion made a point of mistakekingly reverse the wires around on the terminals of the starter motor from the ignition otherwise it would not start.

Here is a photo of my engine prior to the manual conversion. You can see the black loom I'm taking about and where it travels to.

hi, usually wen using the factory auto box loom, the 4 wires usually are reverse light wires (2 wires) wich complete the reverse light circuit, and inhibitor switch (also 2 wires), id personally connect the 2 black wires together and put ignition on and check to see if your revrse luight are on, then i would connect the other to then try start it,
