Polarity is a observation that has a supported hypothesis, and should be replicable in other laboratories. A hypothesis should be definitive and create a model without need for if's and but's. All scientific theory that doesn't stand up to the to modern scrutiny and observations that advanced technology has given us should be taken with a grain of salt. For without questioning the scientific understanding using the latest technology at our disposal the human race wouldn't have got past 12th century alchemy and witch burnings. Get on google and do a few searches - there's water based ultrasonic part cleaners and all sorts of tech related to this finding for sale these days.
