Ke20 Suspension Lowering And Stiffening

Hey Guys,

Ive Got a ke20 and my back suspension is extremely soft. I have two people in the back and its starts scraping on the tyres.

Does anyone know certain types of thicker/heavier leafs that'd fit in and a shorter shock thatd fit in to.

Want to get it stiff so that i can lower it right down without it having so much movement

Cheers

Why does everyone want to have rock hard rear springs........ The job of the springs is to keep the tyres on the ground. Too hard and this wont happen and you will end up single spinning to a stop in any tightish corner......

If you must. Take your leaf packs to a specialist, get the main leaf reset lower and get them to add another leaf to the pack. Yes it will be lower, it will be harder but get used to one wheel spinning whn coming out of corners.

Cheers, I don't want it extremely hard, i just want it so i can lower it down to a certain height without it scrapping on the guards with pasengers

Just one question? How big are the rear tyres are you running? If they scrape now, I think the problem will be bigger if you lower it. Had up to 205/13's under my ke20 without scrapping and it was running lowered and softened leaf packs. I guess I wasnt carrying any passesgers though..

don't know if thay are shorter, but shocks from a Commodore wagon will fit into KE30's. Also HK Monaro fit as well :)

Also, where are your tyres rubbing? Top, outside or inside. If it is inside or outside, you may need to change your wheels or mod the guards (ie. remove the lip on the edge of the guard). If it is the top, you may need to look at a lower profile tyre if you want to lower it.

Will They Fit ke20? Its rubbing on the outside. ive had my guards rolled (lip removed) but i think the diff is offset on the ke20's becoz on one side the tyre fits nice in the guard but on the other side the tyre is out of the guard. Is it posible to get your guards flared like 5mm or something, using the guard rolling machine?

hey mate I'm with coln on this one. i have standard shocks with reset leaves very low and i don have a problem with scraping, id say ur problem is based around your rim and tyre choice. and if you do find a shortened rear shock that fits straight in can u post what it is. my shocks need replacing too.

cheers

Yeah sure thing. my lears are just old and worn alot. I'm trying to find a thicker leaf that i can put in my leaf pack to make it a bit stiffer. don't know what will fit tho.

How is it possible for the diff to be offset? You must have something wrong because there's no way its like that from factory. The wheel on each side should sit in exactly the same position.

I've seen this issue with a KE20. Tried fitting my 225's under one and they fitted fine one side but the other was and inch or so outside of the guard. Dunno why, it just was.

Yeah Thats my problem. one wheel fits nice inside guard. but the otherside it sticks out a bit and rubs on the tyre
