FOOMAN Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) I'm having a bit of trouble working out where my new spigot bearing goes. As iv converted my auto to a manual I didn't have to take one out so I'm at a bit of a loss. Can I put it on the end of the input shaft and slide the whole thing on or does it need to go into the flywheel before i put the clutch plate and pressure plate on? Pics would help if anyone has any. My confusion comes from when I was putting it in the flywheel it didn't seem to want to fit, it either was loose (didn't fit smugly) or poked in at an angle if i pushed it in further. Cheers. Taz_Rx Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Goes in the rear end of THE CRANK, not the flywheel. Quote
ke70dave Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) did you put on a manual flywheel? I'm almost certain the auto and manual flywheels are different on the K motors. though this wont change where the spigot bearing goes.... the spigot bearing sits in the center of the crank as stated, and locates the input shaft into the crank. (yes i edited my post, because i wasnt thinking straight!) Edited May 18, 2011 by ke70dave Quote
FOOMAN Posted May 18, 2011 Author Report Posted May 18, 2011 The flywheel attaches to that doesn't it? I think I'm trying to poke it through the flywheel into the crank Quote
Taz_Rx Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Pull the flywheel off then have a go. Dave - an auto "fly-wheel" is commonly referred to as a flex-plate. And yes they've vastly different to a flywheel.... probably a 1/4 the weight for a start. Quote
ke70dave Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 ahhh always wondered what a flex plate was...never had anything to do with autos (i try to avoid them!). but yeah now i think about it i know what you mean. Quote
FOOMAN Posted May 18, 2011 Author Report Posted May 18, 2011 Yeah I've got the manual flywheel on. I probably just was doing something wrong. Cheers for the help Quote
