so i pulled a head off a motor ive had sitting in my shed for a number of years to sell a piston to a forum member, when i opened it up, i found it was a dished piston version which i wasnt expecting.

so i checked the wiki, with the head number and the head number 68 does not seem to be listed.

got some happy snaps, and was interested what people thought of it all? or if someone wants to buy it? ;)

17cc in the piston

28cc in the head

hows that stack up compared to a 5K?

to me that seems like hella low compression?

measurements are as best as i could get...

possibly mis matched pistons or head?

Hey

Any chance you could measure the diameter of the inlet port and post some pix's of them as well ?

Also if you run your finger along the top of the exhaust port travelling down toward the vavle is there a lump about 20mm in from the manafold face ?

PS At least with low compression the bores wont wear too quick!

Hard to say with out see a pic of port side of head but looks to me like a flat top piston head on a dished piston motor.

The dished piston motors I have stripped or still have have had shallower heads on same pistons.

All dished piston Jap motors shouldnt have that lump in exhaust port Andy43. But there is a way to tell that from the out side of a K motor ;)

As for the head if it is a Jap head to the exhaust valves are made from a harder metal and nitrided factory something our shit 4K's never got ;)

And why would you want secondhand pistons???

i don't want any 4k pistons :P some dude on here had a WTB for 1

I'm assuming his motor lunched one...

i will measure ports and feel for lump, and get a pic for you cameron.

no wonder the guy i got it off said the motor had issues.

it will never wear the bore, cause theres not enough compression to hardly make it go :blinks:

sooo, is there a market for this stuff, or should i scrap it?

^^ I recently scrapped one. Jap motors usually had single row timing chan so that is to go in bin.

Stuff to keep from a Jap dished piston motors is:

Exhaust valves

Heads will flow better (better exhaust ports with no lump) but can only be used on dished piston motors so i still keep

Push rods

Some have hydro lifters so if they have that keep them

tensioner off timing chain all mine were a locking type o when installing/removing didnt spring apart so keep that there handy

That was all I kept rest I bin off these. Dished pistons can still be had brand new and all mine had the small conrod so not the strong one so I usually bin the rest.

by lump do you mean divet?

the exhaust port tract has a divet, ie, its not a protusion.

measured the exhaust valve, but ive forgotten what it was.

I'm thinking 29 mm but that sounds quite large, ill check again, anyless anyone thinks thats right?

anyone that wants anything off this, speak up, the whole lot will be going to scrap when i get a chance, ie, within a week or two
