Hey guys

Just wondering if you guys can help me out? on the front guards and on my seat belt buckles in my ke10 theres badges saying "AMI" what do they stand for and is it a model specific badge or standard to all models? The tags on the firs wall all say 1969 ke10 incase your wondering :)

Not 100% sure but think from mid 69 up have them badges meaning they were an australian built car before that they were built in japan n imported over ..

Aren't the ke18 still built in Australia ?? I thought from late 69 upwards they were built in aus

1970KE18 was stating the obvious that any imported car will not have the AMI badge. ;)

It wouldn't be a 100% indicator your car was locally built, as they could have been fitted later.

 

Back then, there were strict quotas on the number of cars that could be imported, which forced local manufacturing. Then later there were quotas regarding what percentage of a given car needed to be local content.
