hey guys, got a stock 94 corolla with a 7afe in it just wanted some other oppinions, do u think its worth putting extractors+full system on it. or should i just save my pennies and get something with a 4age in it?

cheers guys. just bought it as a daily. fixed dizzy o-ring, both p/steering rack boots put new rotors and pads all round service including plugs so shes running nice:)

There not a bad motor at all. Not something you'd poor every dollar into, but a few cents spent in the right places will make a difference.

A zorst is probably worth investing in if you don't over do it. Extractors, cat, 2 inch and a decent muffler<no japcans> will most likely see a fair increase in performance.

Suspension would be a better initial investment. Then maybe brakes. It all depends on where you want to go with it and what type of car you want to be seen in...

I'd actually go 2.25", especially if you don't get mandrel bends. The biggest restriction in the exhaust is where it flatterns out over the front cross-member, the rest of the exhaust apart from the crappy cast manifold is reasonable and won't net you much power gains (more noise). Definitely go down the handling route, since it's a 94 I assume it's an AE102? If so you've got one of the best Corolla chassis ever made, responds really well to handling mods like struts/lowered springs and sway bars. Stock brakes are more than fine (maybe just upgrade the pads), the brakes themselves are as big or bigger than AE93 SX brakes and the car doesn't really weigh any more so no real need for improvement unless you plan on going to track days.

At the end of the day you're not likely to get much more power than a relatively stock healthy bigport 4AGE or tired smallport unless you spend big dollars on head work, aftermarket ECU/injection and/or turbo, so make the most of what you have and save the real coin for a car that actually has off-the-shelf performance parts :P

Maybe save up for a 4A-GZE to drop in the engine bay to replace the 7A-FE?

Put a 4age head on your engine keep the 7a block they have plenty of torque.

Ahh so it's the last of the AE9Xs (1994 was the changeover year). Pretty much all the info still applies though, the 9Xs are a good chassis but were getting long in the tooth by the mid 90s, build quality isn't as good as the AE10Xs either.

I wouldnt go 2.25" inch its way to big, 2" is plenty as you don't have to flatten the pipe over the cross member, if you are going to drive ur car at the top of the rev range than u could go 2.25" otherwise 2" is plenty
