I'm not suprised about the condition of the water when you rinsed it off! Actually I like how you did those tail lights I might do the same thing :blush: Will look great when its finished, can't wait to see it :y: Yeah I was quite happy with the carpet. The back seat area looks brand new and the front pretty good aswell. They guy didn't drive the car much so that was a bonus. The tail lights came out quite well. I must masked them all up, rub them back, plastic primed them and the gloss black over it. Replaced all the old screws with brand new black screws, looks so much better! Put all the ae93 sx interior seats in. Seats need a really good cleaning, going to hire one of those carpet cleaners from woolies. Bought the interior off some guy who didn't tell me that there was cigarette burn marks in the driver seat, so I was pretty pissed about that when I took the seat cover off...I should of checked when buying them but was in a rush. Anyways they will be covered with some spare snaps on I have. Put the little windows in both sides and all the door rubbers, window rubbers and silicone sprayed all the tracks so they glide better. carbonboy Posted September 29, 2011 Report Share Posted September 29, 2011 Had to buy a new spray painting mask after speaking to a few spray painters because the mask I was using hasn't got the correct filters for 2k paints. So invested in an awesome Sundstrom mask. :y: Good bit of gear, I was donated one my dad was given at work one time, never used. :P Those pre-filters you can buy in like packs of 5 or so are a good investment too, helps get a little more life out of the filter cartriges. dannyboy86 Posted September 30, 2011 Author Report Share Posted September 30, 2011 So got a little bit of wood work happening today and remade the spare wheel cover because it was cracked, corner snapped off and was very warped. Ended up doing it it 6mm masonite for some extra support. Nearly double the thickness of the original stuff. Just got to get another tool clip for it. Make a template of the entire boot floor with cardboard cuts taped together. When it's at the desired shape, remove from boot and trace onto thicker sheeting (even 6mm masonite is plenty, keeps the weight down too). Cut out boot piece, then from that, trace out a trapdoor for the spare wheel. Hinge the trapdoor or simply make a subframe for it to sit against. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it will give you a completely flat boot, and in the 92's, that's not the easiest to find . Car's looking fantastic mate! dannyboy86 Posted October 8, 2011 Author Report Share Posted October 8, 2011 Project rolla has been coming along nicely. Got the car pretty much back all back together minus and a few little things. I have washed the rear boot carpet but just have to replace the carpet sponge underlay because it was pretty beat up and had tears in it. My buffer still hasn't arrived so I ended up borrowing a mates buffer because I couldn't wait any longer. So I ended up cutting and buffing the car and it came out really nice, after that I hand polished the car with super resin polish and then did extra gloss protection. You leave that stuff on for an hour and then hand buff it off and the gloss and smoothness is incredible. All that's left is cut and buff the front bumper, polish and protect it and put a few odds and ends on. Put the door cards and trims on, not happy with the little ash tray parts on the trims so going to source out some better looking ones. Got the rear hatch garnish on after spaying gloss black to match. Not happy with the rubber seal at the back how it sticks up so I will try and get a new seal or a better condition seal. Few shots after cut and buffing I mask up each door when buffing so I don't burn through any corners or edges, not buffed yet. Left side complete Time for the right side Only run I get in the paint is inside the right grille...luckily you don't see it because its covered. dannyboy86 Posted October 13, 2011 Author Report Share Posted October 13, 2011 Just finishing up the corolla getting it ready for blue slip next week some time. Got the quarters and mud guards on and put the side grilles on. Had to remove pretty much all the plastic from the rear just to put these grilles on because they screw is from behind. Went to carpet court and got some off cut underlay and re-underlay the rear boot carpet Some pictures of the front windscreen before the new one gets put in. Well the guy came and removed the front windscreen and we found rust underneath it. So he left it and I told him to come back tomorrow and it will be ready and prepped for him to put it in. Got to work and masked off the windscreen and started to grind off the the rust and uneven areas. Then used the wire brush on the pitted area that couldn't be reached with the angle grinder. After all that it revealed 4 small holes from were the rust has eaten through. So I rust treated the the hole windscreen area. They were to small for me to get the welder in there and I don't have the correct welder for the job so decided to just bog up the holes because they where small holes. The guy that came and did my windscreen, I would highly recommended him. He has done other friends cars in the past and they have never had a problem. I got a windscreen done by o'brien about 4 weeks ago through insurance purposes for my other corolla and I'm already having headaches with it. O'brien quoted $690 supplied and fitted including molding. He did the same thing for $250 with the same glass that o'brien use. And that seal finishes it off nicely, top work :y: Have you come across the CS-X handle plasics? Yeah it was a blessing in disguise. Nah haven't come across the handle plastics. I went out to pick and payless and there was nothing! There was a seca sx with all the extras like electric windows and all. Unmolested from the hoards of people so I was lucky to get the little clock that goes above the original tape deck so can't wait to put that in. I didn't get the centre console that has the double lid. I pick up some seca ninjastar alloy wheels with rubber the only problem it didn't come with centre caps.
