PMP020 Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 hey people. just a quick question to make sure its not a wasted excerise. looking at rebuilding a 4K carb ive got laying around to replace the tired 3K carb which I'm currently running on my 5K. besides the fact the carb will be clean and fresh, will i gain anything from the small upgrade? cheers, Scott. Taz_Rx Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Probably not. 4k has all the anti-pollution stuff hanging off it and 3k doesn't. Quote
GJM85 Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 I tried the 3k carb on my hot 5k this afternoon. Runs a shit load better than the piece of shit sidedraft solex's i've been f@$king around with for months. The engine has a 0.7mm overbore making it about 1566cc. The 3k carb makes a whistleing sound and the vac secondries are sucked open at idle. :no2: NOT ENOUGH AIR.... Quote
altezzaclub Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 the vac secondries are sucked open at idle LoL!! Now you know the maximum size a 3K carb will handle... :laff: ..and the corolla-ry suggests that a 3K will not run at all well with a 5K carb! Quote
PMP020 Posted August 10, 2011 Author Report Posted August 10, 2011 thanks fellas :) cheers, scott Quote
