max4300 Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 HI all I'm buying a ze from a guy on the forum to go in the ae71, going halfs with a mate because he is turboing his 4age and needs the ze pistons so i need to find some new ones. I'm sorry if this has been posted before but i have looked everywhere for the info. i only want to run standard boost so nothing crazy. the 4age 16v pistons and conrods are not forged and dished is that correct?, so to weak for standard boost? 20v pistons and rods? from what i have been reading they are weak as puss so no good 4agze pistons and rods......gaaaa so expensive..... anyone else seen some pistons aftermarket or otherwise? i tried looking on castle hill toyota but i need a vin number so its a bit hard to get a quote has anyone got a quote from toyota? if anyone has some info on this or what they are running in their ze that would be great! thanks in advance!! kickn5k Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 The genuine toyota 4agze piston is CHEAP!!!! If your only going to run 16ish psi they will be more than enough. Like $100 each from memory. The spool conrods are crazy great value for money! I've got the 5k ones and couldn't get the STD conrods reconditioned for the money. The pistons are too low in comp for the boost levels your describing. And seeing as the (semi)forged STD toyota piston is 8.5-8.9:1 comp depending on which ones you use I'd go for them rather than the 7.5:1 spool/Ross ones. Stu. Quote

Oops my bad I didn't think they were that cheap. We had em in my mates 4agte was fine at 20-22psi and 190rwkw. He bought sps(special piston services) and spool rods as he has gone from gt2860 turbo to gt2876 and weve raised boost to 35psi on e85 fuel. Stu. Quote
